There's quite an archive there, hundreds of Billboard magazines from
January 3, 1942 to November 29, 2008. There are some years where all
issues are there (eg 1979, 1985, 1986), some where half the year is
there (1980, 1981) but some where there are no issues (1987, 1988).

Plenty of reading there.

Thanks, this is great news! And what's even more amazing
is that they don't seem to charge anything for it.

I hope that Google will be digitizing even those issues
which are still missing from this online collection.

What an amazing resource! I may not have time for the 1954 contest ;-(

My thanks too to Robbie for bringing it to our attention.

Thanks for the heads up!!!

Things 'you' can learn from reading those old issues

January 1975, Arista Records begins as Bell changes it's name
September 1976 Scepter Records Files for Bankruptcy
1976 A&M sues George Harrison over his Dark Horse records label due to
no LP's being released on it. The label later moves to Warner
Brothers.

I only hope some of those older issues that are missing from the
1970's turn up and get placed online.

I think Billboard could make some money if they were to place their
back issues on CD. Another 70's era mag I'd love to see online or in
some other form is the Song Hits magazine. I wish I'd held on to all
those issues my family from the 1970's into the early 1980's...

Oh well, hindsight is 20/20 as they say
