Waking from the Roots
Coyote Jump
Canyon Records Productions
3131 West Clarendon Avenue
Phoenix, AZ 85017
$14.98 www.canyonrecords.com

Coyote Jump is a musically talented duo consisting of composer Colin
Farish, who is skilled in playing multiple instruments, and Native
American flutist John-Carlos Perea. Together they present Waking from
the Roots, a music CD album in tribute to the indigenous peoples of
America, inspired by their ancient traditions that honor the mystery,
bounty, and love of Mother Earth. The delicate beauty of the cedar
flute binds these soul-stirring songs, in a reflective and ultimately
joyous listening experience. Highly recommended. The tracks are
"Lightning Drum" (5:20), "Ohlone Waters" (4:51), "Migration" (5:54),
"Coyote Jump" (5:12), "Salish Sound" (4:02), "Midnight Moon" (5:31),
"Lozen's Way" (5:19), "Prayer/Taking Flight" (7:20), and "Invocation/
Waking from the Roots" (7:50). 51 min. 47 sec.

Giving Voice - Guitar Explorations is an album of original songs
composed by solo guitarist Rich Osborn, in the "free raga style" of
experimental acoustic guitar, a practice that began roughly 50 years
ago. Osborn plays through fingerpicking on an acoustic, steel-string

tradition with innovation shines through his musical compositions. An
evocative, soul-soothing album, Giving Voice - Guitar Explorations is
highly recommended to guitar enthusiasts everywhere. The tracks are

"Joelle's Song" (6:14), "The Glance" (4:37), "The View from San
Damiano, with Rain" (10:17), "Knights of the Interior Castle" (7:53),
"A Song of New Beginnings" (7:28) and "Hard Time" (3:28).
