How you ever noticed how actor Kevin Spacey (Usual Suspects, Seven etc.)
looks like
Michael Stipe?

Any other REM lookalikes?

Don't tell him that, especially if you're a massive REM fan, otherwise you'll get all the awkward
questions like "Is that why you're going out with me!"

James :-) (Whose sick of all the awkward questions)

This guy at the gym where I work out looks **EXACTLY** like Bill Berry.
It's so weird because he's the exact same height and weight and he even
has the unibrow. And I have this friend named John Laney who looks like
Michael Stipe.

I hate to admit this, but I think Ernie Ervin (NASCAR driver) looks like Bill
Berry.

I hate admitting the part about NASCAR. I'm from N.C . what can I say. We
know college basketball, NASCAR, and thank god R.E.M.

YES!

during that scene in Seven where they were driving Kevin Spacy out to
the remote location and he was talking really slowly and thoughtfully,
i kept thinking to myself, thats exactly what Michael Stipe would
look/act like if he were a serial killer.

A guy I worked with at camp this summer really looks like Michael...some
friends who came to visit heard about the 'Stipey look-a like'..they are
not fans but they saw the resemblence right away and picked him out of the
crowd....what is funny is this guy is an R.E.M fan..and when I said in
passing that I thought he looked like Michael Stipe it actually embarrased
him..he blushed and said 'Thank you."....it was rather cute. The only
picture I have of him is with the staff..so try and imagine a younger
darker Michael in a Boy Scout uniform....(Maybe we don't want to go
there..:) )))

Michael Stipe As An Actor...
Wouldn't it be great.
He would act better than David Bowie and especially better than Mick Jagger!

i watched usual suspects two nights ago and thought the exact same thing --
after being inexplicably attracted to Spacey for about 20 minutes. i didn't
bring it up -- the boyfriend was on the couch too. :)

my stipe look-alike vote goes to the early '90s era Tim Booth, who matches
exactly the early 80's Stipe. my favorite look.

Come to athens. . . there are so many lookalikes you will go nuts. I remember once, my
husband and i were driving down boulevard in our beat up old 82 honda accord and he was
wearing his sunglasses, which made him a dead ringer for stipeboy. These girls at the
stop sign at pulaski were pointing at us and they started following us, it was so funny,
so we drove around and drove down grady and pulled into stipe's driveway, and then backed
out and drove down pope. then we decided to go to Krystals. So we drove down prince and
pulled into the drive-thru. These girls pulled around next to us and started talking to
us and my hubby finally said,"if you really think i'm stipe and i drive a car this shitty
then i have some real estate in florida i want to sell you" I laughed my ass off, then i
felt kinda bad for them, but hell, if i did see stipe driving around, i think the last
thing to do would be to follow him around! LOL

On my way home last night I was driving behind someone who looked like
stipe from the back(his head was the same shape as Stipe's). But I
don't think Stipe would be driving around in a shitty brown car in W.A.

One day I was in Soho (in New York City) with my sister. She had to go to
the bathroom and I suggested she go into the lobby of a hotel on West
Broadway. The hotel was very hip and posh. (A strange combination I know,
but it's the type of place rock stars do hang out for drinks.) I wandered
through a nearby bookshop while she went into the hotel. When she came
out, she told me that Stipe was sitting there, having a drink. (There's a
sort of combination bar/lobby on the second floor.) I was preparing to
post about it here when she said "There he is!" And it wasn't him. It was
a guy about the same height with a shaved head, dressed in expensive
hipster clothes. And if you just glanced quickly you would think it was
him at first glance. But we were walking towards him and had time to check
the guy out longer unobtrusively. There are lots of guys in Soho that look
like Stipe at first glance. I don't think that they are copying him, I
think it's just a boho look that Stipe picked up on.

But isn't it a Volvo? That's a classy car, it's built for safety and
durability, not to impress anyone. I am far more impressed by someone in
Stipe's income bracket who chooses to drive a practical car rather than a
penis substitute.

it is a volvo. and, the last time i checked, there was nothing "shitty" about
it. it's a nice looking car.

as for the follow up to this post where the person mentions that he also drives
a sports care...this may be true , although i've never seen him driving one.
(although to tell you the truth, i've never seen him DRIVE the volvo, but
rather ride while a friend drives). however, if he does, that could have been
mentioned in the first post as well, rather than just stating, "he drives a

shitty red station wagon".

He has two volvo wagons, a red one and a silver one. The red one was his mom's and he
drove it so much. It is a nice turbo wagon, but it's getting that old as hell look to the
paint job. He used to have a jaguar, he still might, but we all know how crappy those
cars are. It broke down once at Hoyt Street North and he had some of my friends looking
under the hood (who were pretty much wasted, but then again who actually stayed sober at
Hoyt. LOL) One of my most abrasive friends wandered up and said "let's see what the
problem is here, OH i know now. it's a Jag!" (this is the same guy who is convinced that
"losing my religion" is about the night he cornered stipe and yelled at him for being a
weenie in so many words at the bar)

according to rolling stone, he also bought a fancy italian motor scooter,
the name of which escapes me now. apparantly he specifically requested
seafoam green.

I saw a Peter Buck lookalike last night- sort of- I mean if Peter was much
thinner, with a way emaciated face... okay, it was just a casual resemblance
but the guy was standing right in front at the show (sigh. one of my
favorite local bands playing in ther back of a bar, giving up the mic to an
old drunk to chant "rock n roll" over and over- I will never see REM in
those circumstances. oh well).

Sounds like an old vomit thrower reunion where the singer was WASTED on maddog and would
yell maddog and hold it up and the crowd would yell "20 20!" It was so funny. Actually
now that i think about it, the singer came on stage wearing a black mini skirt and a
checkered blazer with biker boots and a black hat like stipes circa out of time. he had
black tape on his nipples and a huge penis on his belly drawn with black marker and under
it said "Stipe Toy" The show was a classic. . . it ended with the sound guy rushing the
stage and getting the maddog thrown at his head and the drummer peeing in the drum
monitor. They trashed the atomic. . .

This reminds me of a book I bought at a thrift store "Is Your Volkswagon a Sex
Symbol?" It goes into some depth about car/penis similarities. The basic
content of the book is about how your lifestyle reveals your personality....
