E-bow??? the letter

I was wondering if anyone here could tell me what exactly does "E-bow
the letter" mean? A local DJ said it means "a letter that never
posted"... is it right?

Well, Peter Buck plays E-Bow with an, ahem, e-bow. "Letter" would
be a much cooler name for the song, IMHO. By looking at Binky the Doormat,
it sounds like they just put some semi-random word in front of the "real"
title.

I bet if it had come out in 1985 it would have been called 'Letter'. Or
'Shinhangehfar' in the great kohoutek trad. The song titles never live
up to the ones on Murmur, Fables and LRP for sheer straight-down the line
one word obscurity.

Oh? The song does obsess about nine, it is the ninth song on the album,
and Michael does sing the phrase "nine to nine" at the end of the
vocalise bridge.

That would be a Letter Never Sent. If it was posted but never found
a home it would be dropped off at the Dead Letter Office. I suppose
if some rocks stars found the letter and made a song out of it feature
a certain guitar effect, they would be E-bowing the Letter.

Well, there is the phrase "all nine yards" but that's the extent of it
and it's a pretty standard phrase as it is.
