Okay, this may be a stupid question, but does anybody have any ideas why
Michael shaved his head and has continued to do so since 1992 or so?
Most times, people have reasons for doing it and I was wondering if
Michael has a specific reason.. Looking at pictures from the early 90's
it appears his hairline was receding. Could that be it?

I've nothing against baldness, just wondering.

I'm sure this has shown up in the FAQ by now, but it's a reasonable
question. Yeah, he's going a bit bald-- you can see it starting to
happen in pictures circa Green, and for a lot of the Out of Time and
AFTP publicity he's wearing a hat. He's been letting his hair grow out
to a stubble before shaving it lately, and you can see that his hairline
has definitely receded quite a bit... This may not be the only reason he
decided to shave it-- and any other reasons will probably remain
unknown-- but the male pattern baldness probably had something to do with
it.

Has anybody else noticed a bit of gray in his beard as well?

My two biggest star crushes are on Stipe and Patrick Stewart, so
obviously I don't, either. =+)

Michael stated around Monster that the reason he shaved his head is
because he was going bald and didn't like being self-concious about it.
So he just shaved it all off.

He has grown it back sometimes, but not much more than a half-inch. In
the Hi-Fi special edition you can see a picture where he has a "buzz"
instead of the dome.

Nah. I've actively avoided putting personal details about band
fashion/appearance/relationships into the FAQ, on the theory it's not
really our business. But yes, Stipe has said ad nauseum in interviews
that he shaved his head partly in response to losing his religion, er,
hair.

P.S. Trying to imagine you without hair-- I bet it looks good.
Congratulations on your courage!
