The track is likely to be recorded in America, although it it not yet
known when it will be released.
Echobelly played alongside REM (yeah... they spelled it without the
full stops) on their 'Monster' tour last year. REM also paid to fly
Echobelly out to European dates.
An Echobelly spoeksperson said: "REM (he must have pronounced it
without the full stops :-) have long been fans. Peter Buck has been
to see them a lot in America and they played together last year."
Stipe and Johansson have yet to decide on a name for their
collaborative effort."

Haven't you noticed that REM is *always* spelt without the fullstops in British
magazines??? It's probably a slight case of laziness on the part of the
journalists.....like one journalist complained about how much of a bastard to
type out Pulp's F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E was (having just typed it
out, I'd agree)
And as well, surely REM (OK, who stole those fullstops??) could pick a better
band to team up with than Echobelly? Like Radiohead, for instance- now that
would be cool. But that's just my opinion.

"That's funny," said Pooh.
"I dropped it on the other side," said Pooh. "And it came out on this side"
"I wonder if it would do it again?"......
It did. It kept on doing it. And that was the beginning of the game called Pooh
Sticks, which Pooh invented.

hmmm, interesting duo; however, after seeing the spinanes last night with
the crazywack camille chatterjee (hehe), i think that a Stipe and Rebecca
Gates duet would be amazing.. her sultry and powerful voice would
compliment stipe's range and they both are so freaking cool, they would
be a treat to see performing together.. i think it would be cool to see
them sing some tunes off of reckoning together so she could chime in with
her twangy, groovy guitar playing too..

yeah, stipe and rebecca would be pretty kickass...they both seem like very
moody, intense, serious people...you could get some really ethereal,
haunting stuff out of that...
but someone tell me what stipe and liz have done together? liz phair,
that is. have they recorded anything together? i think they'd be another
perfect matchup...she's so spunky and (whip) smart, she'd give ol' JMS a
run for his money...

According to the new fan club newsletter Stipe's the only
one who's *not* appearing on Liz Phair's new album. Mike,
Bill, Peter, Scott McCaughey, & Nathan December all
play on the track "Fantasize" and Scott Litt produced the
album. Maybe Michael was out having his head touched up :).
Say, the newsletter is just chock full o info this month. Nifty.
Sez "a lot" of the new songs from the tour will be on the new
album, which will be released this Fall. In addition to the
Vic Chesnutt tribute & the Bite Back CD already mentioned on
this group it sez Mike, Matthew Sweet & Jody Stephens
recorded "The Ballad of El Goodo" for a Big Star trib album.
Neato. I luv Big *. And Mike too :)))).

come on, don't knock echobelly. while i'd much rather prefer a duet with
thom yorke, myself (i think i mentioned that on the dream matchup thread
a while ago), i'll gladly take echobelly over some of the drivle that's
on the radio now.
someone else mentioned rebecca gates. that would be really groovy. with
elliot smith, that'd be groovier.
rebecca, michael, elliot and mark sandman on two string bass singing peaches?
