guys--but has it ever been confirmed that he has been involved with a woman?
Are Nat Merchant and Patti Smith strictly friends? Certainly CLove is a just a
friend. I read recently that Michael admits "I'm Not Over You" is DIRECTLY
autobiographical. Do any of you know to whom he might be referring? Is he
dating anyone now? My apologies to any of you who feel my questions fall
beneath rmr's dignity. I just want to know who he likes, so I can check them
out, see if I can understand the attraction. Why? I dunno. It's a funny aspect
of fandom. I don't really understand it myself.

week of Dec.? I will be in Atlanta on Christmas day, visiting my grampa-in-law,

that's not true. he's been confirmed to have gone out with Natalie Merchant, she
talked about them dating in an interview in the UK two years ago or so? Not that
they went out two years ago, but in the past, in the early 90s, late 80s,
somewhere in there. And i think Jane Pratt has indicated she had some sort of
sexual relationship with MS. On that i could be wrong, i'm not a michael expert
by any means. But, he's been confirmed with at least one woman, and no men.
as you did note, none of us really know beyond what we've read. and MS isn't a
spice girl blabbing every moment of his sex life to the tabs.

it's not about keeping your mouth shut - it's about avoiding the definitive
statement. :) nobody knows everything about the band except peter buck, and he

my newsreader, so i'll guess you're wondering who Jane Pratt is? She's an
editor, first for Sassy, now for Jane. In between she had a talk show with a
theme done by Mike Mills. She's known the band since the early 80s and appeared
on REM's Behind the Music. I think i recall that she said she and Michael had
gotten it on. Either way, they're friends and he's appeared in Jane, and etc.

There's nothing but rumors linking Michael to Stephen Dorff. They are prolly
just friends, and if they're not, or weren't at one time, it's none of my
beeswax, and certainly not something worth speculating on this forum.
That said, Stephen Dorff is an actor. He's been in lots of movies, including
SFW, and he played the villain in Blade.

it when we were in DC for the TFC last summer (or, i guess, last last summer).

we were getting ready to go see robyn hitchcock. i swear, though...seeing the
edited version of this movie is a definate must. and it wasn't dubbed...i'm
thinking this was some sort of alternate version (and airplane edit, maybe?).

to being bisexual. That makes it very difficult to pry into his private
life. If he were straight, and he showed up somewhere with Cameron Diaz,
for example, people would assume they were dating. Or if he were gay,
and was out in public with this Stephen Dorff guy, people would assume
they were an item. But since Micheal is bi, people don't know what to
think when they see him somewhere with someone. Are they lovers ? Are
they freinds? There's really no way to know what's going on. Heck,
Michael may not even be bisexual. It may just be a clever ruse to keep
people guessing.

Vedran, you read my mind! In January, I will be running a 20th Anniversary
quiz for REM anoraks on my web site Parakeets & Sidewinders. I dunno what
I'm gonna offer a sprizes (can't afford to buy much) but the winner will be

Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Don Fleming (Gumball),
Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs), & Dave Pirner as Paul McCartney's vocals. As you
