Hi reggae fans worldwide,

I would like to receive some reactions on who do you think were the best
roots and culture artists from last year, both newcomers and
esthablished. My favourite singer from last year was Jah Cure and
Luciano did what he does best, releasing one wicked tune after another!
Big up
Peter (crucial p)

I have to agree with you Peter - Jah Cure was the singer of the year in my
opinion. I didn't hear every 7" he put out, but what I heard was brilliant:
Zion Away and Zion Way on Harmony House were both excellent, as was his
Dancehall Vibes on Kings of Kings, and of course his excellent combo songs
with Sizzla (Kings In This Jungle) and Jah Mason (Run Come Love Me).

However, I must say that I really only heard a little of Ras Shiloh's output,
and I really liked what I heard there. Maybe if I heard more, Jah Cure would
have a challenge on his hands!

I believe that Morgan Heritage has the potential to be the forerunners in this
conscious wave of music. I'm a bit confused about a few things: First, do
they play their own instruments on stage? Whatever happened to their extended
family "The Dreds?"

Furthermore, I may be in the minority , but I found Jahmali and Ras Shiloh's
albums to be inconsistent. A few good songs here and there, but nothing
resembling great albums.

Cool Vibes,

Yes they do with the addition of 3 "not Morgan" musicians
And, believe me, they are really wicked musicians

I'm asking the same question

I agree with you I prefer listening to Bushman(his new 7" on Techniques : "What
The Matter With The World" is very good tune) or Daweh Congo (long time I've no
seen a new tune from him)

Couple tings

I wouldn't judge these emerging artists too ruff right now. I man really
enjoyed Jahmali's CD, and Ras Shiloh's "Babylon You Doom" was refreshing.
