Hi,

I found in one of the second hand music stores a whole bunch of Mad
Professor records.

Anyone in this group ready to rate or review some records he has done?

some are good, many are incredibly tedious. id suggest starting with
black liberation dub series i guess...or just buy one and see what
you think. there is a high standard of standardness if you ask me,
but of course you didnt. im trying to think of one that stands out,
but i cant even do that im afraid...*maybe* the first captures
pato banton, especially since its about teh only pato banton album
i can even stomach, but even that sounds pretty dated now...

Email to rsch...@securenet.net bounces so I'll post to
the forum that I always thought `Science and the Witch Doctor'
stood out as one of his best from the Dub Me Crazy series..

He's very innovative, has an own digisound but not too digital.

I should have specified, that I have quit a lot of Lee "Scratch" Perry
Records and in there are some, which where mixed by the MP (I love the
"Fire In Dub" Record, more than the "Dub Fire" one) I like his Mad
Professor vs Massive Attack stint and I have and hate his "Dub You Crazy
With Love" I've seen him twice at shows and it was like once I thought,
what a s*t, but had to keep the appearance up, so I had to go the next
year to his next show, and they had to drag me out of ther, almost, it
was sooo good.

What I am looking for is roots/dub, and those imports are so expensive,
even second hand.

So I thank Scottie (even if his putting t's into my name) the `Science
and the Witch Doctor' /Dub Me Crazy guy
jah bill (I don't think I want pato Banton to much neither) and Messian
Dread, who's gives stars very sparely

Hi Roberto,

I love Mad Professor's dubs. In my opinion, you really can't go wrong
with any of his albums. I tend to like his 'Black Liberation Dub' series
best, I think (these include, "Black Liberation Dub", "Anti-Racist Dub
Broadcast", "Afrocentric Dub"..). "Beyond the Realms of Dub" is quite
good too, with some stuff thats even more spaced-out than his usual work.
"Lost Scrolls of Moses" has a pretty distinct sound to it, compared to his
other work, in my opinion, and I enjoy it a lot. "Its A Mad, Mad, Mad,
Mad Professor" is a pretty good sampler of his work; that might be a good
one to pick up if they have it.

In addition to the albums I mentioned above, I also have "Experryments at
the Grassroots of Dub" (with Lee Perry), "A Carribean Taste of
Technology", "Mad Professor Recaptures Pato Banton", and "The African
Connection". Let me know if you would like any specific comments on any
of these albums (I haven't listened in a while).

hope this helps,
graham

I think "Experiments of the aural kind" (my first), "escape from the
asylum of dub" and "Who knows the secret of the master tapes" stand
out. The rest can be pretty tedious, one or two of them are enough I think.

Check his fresh album with Shaloma. It is called "Good Vibrations". Shaloma
is a UK-based female singer. Also, Mad Prof. is in a very rootical mood. The
cd includes dubs as well. Wicked album!

what! there is no mention of 'Mad Professor meets Negus roots players
in a rub a dub style'. By far it is the best among all of his albums. I
have 35 plus albums of him so I am not making a general statement. It
comes from listening to all of his albums plus even Mad Professor had
forgotten that he had done this album. He was very proud of the album
when I reminded him of it. The album is all pure roots dub of Lacksley
Castell's album. And the good news..I have seen cd copies surfaced
recently at a budget price. Natty Rebel..can you confirm this please.

i agree with sanjay. i had totally forgotten about this record but
as he says, it ranks as the best of mp's output in my opinion.
