For the unsuspecting public, this is a forward from the newsgroup
soc.culture.haiti, on the topic of "survivances amerindiennes".
We were discussing "vevers", a type of insignia drawn on the
ground with cornmeal during some Vodou ceremonies. This
individual, vert...@erols.com, was nice enough to tell me this, and
send me a bibliography and some other information by prvate email.
I'm SO excited - and, although the intellectual subtlety of what I'm
about to say may elude Fitaurari, I'm also a bit surprised. Ghanians
of the diaspora were taken mostly to Jamaica, and the ancestors
of modern Haitians were mostly from the French colonies of Africa,
so I wouldn't expect to find a Ghanian tradition in Vodou. It's just
delightful when I can find yet another link between the Afro-Caribbean
diaspora and the religions of the African continent!

does this mean that we wont see anymore vodou posts here?
or does it mean crossposts to come?
