Please site up a festival of this magnitude that does a better job if you
can. Does Reggae on the River, Reggae on the rocks or Reggae in the Park do
a better job? If not, then perhaps your complaint is directed towards big
reggae festivals in general. I could understand this, but feel it is
inappropriate to single out snwmf......

What I do take issue with is your singling out snwmf in your complaint,
which i believe to be completely debased of reality as compared to all other
festivals of it's proportions....

Michael Franti (SF)
Antibalas Afro Beat Orchestra (NY)
Hamsa Lila (Oregon)
Pepper (Hawaii)
Downbeat The Ruler (NYC)
Clinton Fearon (Seattle)
Rocker T (Oakland)
O-Maya (N. CA)
Elijah Emanuel & The Revelations (N. CA)
Dubwize (C. CA)
Jah Warrior Shelter Hi Fi (N. CA)
Loco Bloco (N. CA)
I'd say the US was well represented at what is after all a world music
festival.

here's what i think is for sure:
if i was the promoter of this festival and you went online complaining
like this -- you could bet with 100% certainty that YOU AND YOUR BAND
WOULD NEVER GET BOOKED at my show!
so no offense meant but i have to ask -- are you some kind of dummy or
are you just making sure that you never play SNWMF?
--
secondly, i wish you to check these sites -
http://littlemunk.com.com/usabb which has over 200 plus listings of various
usabb of varying abilities
and
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/usabasedreggaebands
it has nothing to do with 'my' band, which has had the good fortune to have
played at SNWMF
in 1999...big up the promoter!!!!!!!! nice man...
lastly, revenge as you wish to suggest is for the ones who have nothing else
to offer...
and i am sure that the SNWMF promoter is very much broadminded than you seem
to suggest......

peace,
Clinton Fearon
sounds like another
"Message to the Nation" (Upsetter 1977)
and while we mention it, more big tunes from CF like
"On the Other Side" (Studio One)
"A Prayer to Thee" (Studio One)
and of course
"Miss Jones" (TR Groovemaster) for the Mighty Prince Tony
.. plus more and more and more, plus X-AMOUNT as musician of course
don't worry Clinton some of us out here are not confused about certain
things..

Yes - I would like to clarify this point as well in regards specifically
to the USABB website.
The name USABB (a name coined by Roots-ee) stands for "USA-Based Bands",
meaning any artist regardless of nationality who has a home base/contact
address in the US. Thus, if you are an American artist based and playing
only abroad, you wouldn't be included on the site. If you are a Jamaican
artist living in Miami, you will be listed.
There are currently 437 US-based reggae artists listed on the USABB
site, posted over the past almost 7 years now. We have never directly
solicited anyone to join the site or advertised it anywhere except the
occasional post on RMR or in RAW. Meaning in effect, that you the reggae
artist community have built the site!
Our only criteria for posting an artist besides being based in the US,
is that we can verify as much as possible they are in fact a playing
reggae artist. We're sure that many of those 437 artists have come and
gone over the years, changed names, etc. If anybody out there on RMR
know of any defunct bands or obsolete information on the USABB site, pls
let us know so that we can keep the listings as up to date as possible.
(And I ask esp. for folks knowledgeable of the California scene to check
the CA page, as we have 97 artists listed for that state, and I'm sure
some of those 97 have moved on.)
Now, I know I just said we don't solicit any artists directly, however I
would like to solicit listings for the states in which we currently have
no artists posted. If you know any reggae artists in the following
states, pls let them know about the USABB site:
Alabama
Alaska
Arkansas
Idaho
Mississippi
Montana
New Hampshire
North Dakota
South Dakota
West Virginia
Wyoming
Lastly, we do not advertise on the site, sell anything, or charge
anybody anything, nor will we ever if I have any say about it. I've had
numerous requests for t-shirts and bumper stickers with the USABB logo
over the years, and b/c of that we do provide upon request a high-res
image of the USABB logo if you'd like to make your own shirt or
bumpersticker. We would appreciate of course that you don't make any
merchandise to sell using the logo, however you certainly can have it
for personal use and hopefully proud display!
Thanks and respects to all of you over the years for visiting and
participating in USABB. It has been an honor to do the site and to
correspond with many of the artists, and it has especially been an honor
to help Roots-ee realize the vision he had to help support and promote
USA-BASED reggae artists.
As for SNWMF - I don't really care where the artists are from - as long
as they play! No more turntablists tho spinning noise at 120bpm, please!!
