Can anyone out there upload the lyrics to the song "Israelites"
by Desmond Dekker and the Aces (1968)? Also some commentary on
the meaning therein?

ISRAELITES
=========

I get up in the morning slaving for bread sir,
so that every mouth can be fed,
oooh, oooh mi Isrealites.

Mi wife an' ma kids them a pack up an'a leave me,
"darling" she said "I was yours to be seen",
oooh, oooh mi Isrealites.

Cho! them a tear-up trousers a go,
I don't wan' to end up like Bonny and Clyde, [ie, full of
holes]
oooh, oooh mi Isrealites.

After a storm there must be a calm,
you catch me in your farm, you sound your alarm,
oooh, oooh mi Isrealites.

I'm new to the newsgroup, and pretty new to reggae, so excuse me if I'm
exploring previously charted waters.

Anyone have any info on cool reggae action in Manhattan? (bands, clubs,
etc.)

If so, please email me.

Thanks!

The Israelites
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
(Desmond Dacres aka Desmond Dekker)

Get up in the morning slavin' for bread, sah
So that every mouth can be fed,
oh, oh, mi Israelites

Mi wife an' me kids dem jus' get up an'a leave me
"Darlin" she said "I was yours to be seen"
oh, oh, mi Israelites

Cho! dem a tear-up trousiz a go,
I don' wanna end up like Bonny an' Clyde
oh, oh, mi Israelites

After a storm there must be a calm,

you catch me on your farm, you sound your alarm
oh, oh, mi Israelites

The meaning should be clear from the lyrics, but if you need to, aks again.

Ites.

(by the way this is twice I've answered this in as many months, could
someone put this in a FAQ)
