I have been inundated with so much music lately and so much of it is really
excellent...GIVE THANKS! Let me say, I only post positive reviews that I
honestly feel those vibes about. I believe in letting the massive know, many who
do not have the opportunity to review as much music as I do, what I find
exceptional. I posted a glowing review of "Special Request" on the Heartbeat
label yesterday and today, I finally got to sit and really listen to this
amazingly young and professional group coming out of the UK called Ras Ites. The
cd is entitle "Urban Regeneration" and I was really impressed (especially if you
love the UK sound):

Serious Rasta vibes, skillfull harmonies and expertly perfected rhythms are
just a few reasons why a new group, Ras Ites,
from the UK will soon become a household name. Their first cd entitiled
"Urban Regeneration" is reminiscent of the great
reggae music enjoyed from the UK in the seventies and eighties. A serious
bass presence brings back vibes of Aswad and
Blakc Uhuru. The first track, a perfect rendition of the classic
Naturalites tune "Picture On the Wall" immediately beckoned
me to sit tight and check these very young and positive, conscious
musicians. Ras Ites is comprised of four young dreads,
from ages 16-20. Serious Rasta music from the youth, gives me the hope of a
better world to come. Few first releases
demonstrate the maturity and heavy vibes Ras Ites has accomplished in the
collection which includes the tracks: * my favorites but I will play all of
them on the radio...

Picture on The Wall*
High Grade*
Live Consciously
World Festivity
Chop Corruption*
Disaster
Africa*
Crazy Lazy

Ras Ites is comprised of lead vocalist, Kashta; Jahmel, guitar and bass
player, Cyrus on keyboards and Otis on the
drums...Urban Regeneration was recorded at Cave Studios in the UK and
distributed by Jet Star. Trust me, for roots rasta
reggae lovers....this is an excellent choice...Rasta music come strong.

The CD is indeed fresh, not sure if most radio DJs are enlightened as you.
Most DJs in my area are "stuck" on the so-called established "big name"
artists and are obviously unwilling to big up or even see music from a non
"hype up" angle.

I agree. Good example is that our local record shop just got several copies
of the cd, but they were sold out very fast. Didn´t manage to get a copy for
myself yet. I heard the cd, anyway and liked it. It seems like there was not
this track that Abashanti-I has been playing already some years ago. The
lyrics are: ´Love Jah & live, you hate him and die.... Look at all the
things he has done to I & I... ´ Anyone know if this has ever been released
or is it just Shanti dubplate?

Thanks,
Olli

I believe that is their "JAH LOVE" song which appeared on Jet Star's Reality
Calling Vol. One. It was on Ireggae's top 10 around March of this year, and
can be listened to from that page. Daniel
