If this is the piece I think you mean, try searching for "Andante in C
Major" by Mauro Giuliani. That was the theme from the Canadian childrens TV
series "Tales of the Riverbank" anyway. I don't know anything about a SH
version.

If the Candian TV show was about Hammy Hamster and Roderick Rat, played by
real rodents, and using a tiny stream and Hammy going on a atiny boat every
other show, it's the same programme. The show with the theme in question was
on BBC1 "Watch with Mother" in the late 60s early 70s.
I've never heard the theme called anything other Tales of the Riverbank, and
I'm sure Steve would have credited it correctly.

Well we are talking about the same TV show but I must admit I haven't
seen it for about 30 years. Nevertheless I have in my hands a copy of the
sheet music for Andante in C Major published by Trinity College of Music
in 1989 and credited to Giuliani (1781-1829), and when I play it on the
guitar it sounds a lot like the Tales of the Riverbank theme, as attested
by several people who have heard me attempt to play it.

Interesting! I'll have to look it up now.
I take it it's in piano score rather than tab?
TRN
Yes I have it in regular notation but I would be surprised if there is
not a tab version out there.
Yes here it is http://alt.venus.co.uk/weed/music/classtab/ scroll down
to Giuliani. There is also a MIDI which seems to be by someone who
doesn't understand the meaning of Andante.
As I said, I don't know the Hackett version but his web site says

Tales Of The Riverbank
"Tales" was a childhood favorite TV show characterised by the wonderful
voice of Johnny Morris with this lovely piece used as theme music. It's
based on "Andante In C" by Giuliani and this is my own re-recorded and
re-arranged version."
So we were kind of both right. :-)
