Can anyone add to the list of religious theme progressive albums? I'd like
to perhaps investigate other ones that I don't know about...

Ones that I do know about:

Latte E Miele - Passio Secundem Mattheum
Armando Tirelli - El Profeta
Eele Craig - Missa Universalis
Aphrodite's Child - 666
Quiet World - The Road
IO Uomo
RDM - La Bibblia
Gracious - "The heaven and hell suite"
Vangelis - Heaven and Hell

I know also the Jesus Chris Superstar album too.

Are the Kerry Livgren AD albums considered prog? If so they would be
what you are looking for. I have all three of them and they are pretty
darn good. Maybe EBAY has them.

Throw some of Glass Hammer's stuff in there too, I guess.

Yes - Tales from Topographic Oceans

Apart from the albums that have already beeen mentioned, there are plenty of
great (prog) albums which contain at least one track which is either
influenced by religion, or deals with religious themes, e.g.

Peter Hammill - The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage (The Lie)
Genesis - Foxtrot (Supper's Ready)
Van der Graaf Generator - Still Life (Childlike Faith in Childhood's End)
XTC - Skylarking (Dear God)
Jethro Tull - Aqualung (My God)
Elton John - Caribou (Ticking)

And speaking of Glass, Glass harp would work as well.

Salamander "The Ten Commandments". I recall it being vaguely
Strawbs/Moody Blues-ish proto-prog with a lot of Hammond. I didn't
find it interesting enough to warrant keeping when I got it on CD
ten years ago. YMMV.

<http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD.asp?cd_id=4992>

Speaking of Strawbs, most of their albums have a song or two with
specific spiritual lyrics or a religious-themed morality tale.

I was beginning to wonder if anyone had spotted that one - it struck
me as obvious!

Prog grew out of the counter-culture and often reflected contemporary
views on religion. Ed Macan in his book on the genre compares the
ritual of the prog rock live show with religious ceremonies, a
comparison also made by Yes's "Ritual". However, these religious
references tend to be to "New Age" or eastern religious ideas (e.g.
Yes's "Close to the Edge" and _Tales from Topographic Oceans_), which
may be less familiar to the average Western listener. Another tradition
within prog is fervently atheist, of course (e.g. ELP).

Particularly their album "The Compilations - 1996 to 2004" available
exclusively on iTunes. It's much more religious themed than their usual
stuff.

Tull's "A Passion Play" could be added.

Almost every band from the heyday of Prog had a song or album devoted to the
subject.

Sure satanism counts. The question was for religous content, not for a
specific religion.

There was also Black Mass by Lucifer, but this was strictly electronic
music, "realized" by Mort Garson.

http://www.8trackheaven.com/blackmass.html has an MP3 of "Solomon's
Ring" from the album, it holds up rather well.

Goes well alongside Bruce Haack's "The Electric Lucifer", if I do say so
myself.

Well than Secularism counts too along with Atheistism(Is that a
word?). That means every prog album known to man is religious.:-)

The complex rhythms and chord structures of "Livin' Doll" are amazing,
and Hank Marvin's guitar break in "Bachelor boy" is something to
behold. I never went much for Cliff's religious shit, though.

I'm a "We Don't Talk Anymore"/Alan Tarney era man, myself.
