farther drive, but direct flight....
there may be a ny to milwaukee flight though too.....
thanks, makes a little more sense now, just was a bit fuzzy on what's
near what for that area
If you fly into Milwaukee you avoid any chance of having to deal with
the somewhat unpredictable and always hellish Chicago Traffic.
I live here in Milwaukee and if you stay here in Milwaukee it is all
highway back and forth to the venue. If you stay in Racine and or
Kenosha you would take Highway 20 to I think 43 to Alpine. Hwy 20 is
a nice road but you hit smaller villages. Distance wise is pretty
much a horse a piece... There are no hotels around Alpine and camping
has been gone for years.. Also this is Milwaukee so there is probably
some festival going on or it is the weekend before Summerfest so you
might be safe. Sometimes weekends in Milwaukee can be hard if there
is a big festival on the lakefront.
Help at all?
if alpine is the same weekend as summerfest, count on there being no
hotel rooms unless you book now, and even then good luck. you could
try flying to madison and come in that way, it's about the same drive
as milwaukee but no summerfest traffic. i do agree with the flying
into ohare and driving in plan though, because that way you get a much
cheaper flight.
otoh, if you *do* get a room in milwaukee during summerfest, you
should definitely stay a couple days for the fest because it is the
best all-purpose music fest on the planet! and if you pay attention
to the schedule, you can usually get in free if you don't mind
spending all day there :)
