It is with mixed emotions, both sad and optimistic, that we are announcing a
change in the line up pf Umphrey's McGee. Mike Mirro has been our drummer
ever since our first show we played in a smoky little bar in Indiana back in
January of 1998. After almost five years with the band, Mike feels that it
is time for him to act on his calling to be a doctor. He will continue to
play every show until a replacement is found, and then begin medical school.
However, his last show will most likely be our New Year's Eve show at the
Vic Theatre in Chicago. He will undoubtedly remain in the family, and
expect to see him in future collaborations, both in the studio and on stage
throughout the years to come.
Umphrey's McGee is currently seeking a drummer who would be committed to the
idea of writing and performing music in a democratic atmosphere. If you are
interested in a full time career as a touring musician, please check our
website for details at http://www.umphreys.com/drummer.html and email us at
ba...@umphreys.com. . If you do not have email, call 773.880.0024 Extremely
serious inquiries only, please.
We wish Mike the best of luck in his future endeavors, and we would like to
thank all of our fans for your continued support through this period of
transition. We look forward to seeing you all at the rest of our shows
this year and in 2003.
Stay tuned for another message regarding our upcoming Colorado shows and New
Year's Eve.

I gave up drums about 7 years ago. Too bad. I would move up to Chi-town in
a second to be in UM.
