Question: In the song Character Zero, can anyone tell me who the "Man
Mulcahey" is ?????????

I would appreciate any feedback!

In the spring news letter Mike said the words are hebrew. They mean "I've
got to see the king"or "old throned one".

Im not sure who the band is referring to. However, in a novel by a
socialist/feminist writer, Tillie Olsen, called Yonnondio, there is a
character Mulchahey. I doubt this is what the band was thinking, but I
thought it was worth mentioning, seeing how Mulchahey is not to common a
name....at least in our culture...

I thought I heard Mike say once that Mulcahey was the hebrew word for
king.

The Hebrew word for King is Melech. It is possible that Mulcahey is a
derivative, since Hebrew is written with consonants only (vowels are added
above or below the letters, but are most often omitted altogether). I
don't know if Mulcahey has any meaning in Hebrew.

Wasn't the priest on M*A*S*H named something like Mulcahey? Is there a
connection?? Perhaps the song is about God, with all the 'royalty'
explainations and a priest symbolicly standing in for the Big Guy. Which
reminds me, did anyone else catch the insane relgious symbolism at the
Paradiso in Amsterdam July1 &2? I was there and it was a holy experience,
believe you me.

The outside lights, shining through the stained glass windows of the
former church were pretty awesome. Was there additional symbolism you
noticed?

Yes. A Oh When The Saints Go Marching In jam on the first night
(somewhere in the 2nd set, I don't remember) and an S.0.S jam during
the David Bowie.

Outside lights? Is that what that was? (For those not there, it was a
flashing in time with the beat, but was *not* on all the time.)
