I heard 40k. Official numbers to the best of my knowledge haven't
been released yet.

I had never been to the Coachella site before 8 so I don't really have
anything to guage this by, but my estimate from being there was in the
25k range. I was very surprised when I saw that the "official"
estimates were 40k+. Either that place was a LOT bigger than I
thought, or they *really* handled the crowd well.

Not only was the attendance low compared to what we are used to, but many
commuted to the site daily making the onsite crowd even smaller. This also
contributed to the relative lack of congestion upon arriving and egressing.
Inside, i spent the fist set, first night at a high angle near stage page
side. It was packed almost to the wall on that side. Second set, moved to
Fish side and the amount of open grass to the restrooms on that side seemed
to indicate it was set up for larger numbers...
Peace
John

just an eyeball scan of the crowds and how crowded the shows looked,
i'd say 45-50k. no more than 55k there in my best guestimation. i
know alpine valley holds around 40k-ish and the crowd was not much
bigger than that.
