Lengthwise:

"When your there I sleep lengthwise,
and when your gone
I sleep diagonal in my bed"

Sometimes I forget how to sleep, so this reminds me which position to
sleep in ;)

Harry Hood. I don't know why, but for some reason that songs bores me. Just
does.

One of my favorite things to do is to put in Surrender to the Air and
turn it way down so you can just heard the quiet drums, on the first
song. Then the loud parts aren't too loud, so you can sleep, then when you
reachrem sleep your mind is still hearing all of the strange hypnotic
melodies, horn blasts and other goodie to feed your subconscience (sp).
This can bring cool images into your dreams, making them less realistic.
An instumental music or songs allow your mind to shape them in different
ways in your dreams but this is just a fav of mine.
If you meant the best song to relax to I'd say Divided Sky, Squirming
Coil, The whole rift album relaxes me, though I don't know why.

i like falling asleep to something like harry hood, or squirming coil,
because they get all quiet close to the end. i like to listen to the
second disk of 'a live one' to fall asleep to.

Naaaaa. There's no better Anastasio anasthaesia (!) than SQUIRMING COIL.
With all that great, increasingly mellow piano stuff at the end... Now I
lay me down to sleep.

Just remember, sleeping with a cassette or a DAT may be hazardous to your
health. Just thought I'd warn you.

Slave to the Traffic Light---it's got that soft section in the middle
and just as you doze the intensity of the second half of the song hits
you. It makes for cool dreams.

I'd have to say YEM, b/c I usually doze off during
Page/Trey/Mike's solo, and am in a cool subconscious
state when the vocal jam begins. I'd recommend trying
this: pick out a nice long YEM, like the one from
Albany '95 and listen to it just before you go to bed.
If you doze off before the vocal jam, strange things will
happen to you.

Or hell, just smoke a little Kind...:-)

I used to nap to the album Rift all the time. I'd doze off when "Fast
Enough" and "Lengthwise" came up, and usually awaken right around Ice or
so.

I've also used Genesis' "Trick of the Tail" to good napping effect -- the
first tune is kind of hectic, but then you doze off when Entagled rolls
around.

For me it's definitely Squirming Coil. The piano solo at the end is,
IMHO, one of the most relaxing moments in Phish music.

You know, I've always napped to Rift too, and have met others who did the
same. I don't think I ever did it before I understood the Rift "concept",
but it's the perfect album to sleep to. But if we're talking one particu-
lar song, it'd have to be Reba. I usually fall asleep right as the mellow
part of the jam kicks in.

ahh i dont think id choose that one, i think its more exilerating, it felt
awesome listening to it while i was landing in France from the U.S.(DAYdreaming
about going to see them on Tour in paris or normandie "santana/PHISH"
but i was later suicidally depressed when i couldn't see either!
but seeing "A Goofie Movie" in France, "Dingo et Max" helped me from killing
myself in France, and looking forward to seeing Trainspotting, here at
home,(tons of Trainspotting ads in France)

ANYWAY i think that the Phish song that i would fall asleep too would be...
one of those lower toned songs like "If i could I Would" or "Dog Faced Boy"

I don't know. Rift's hard and kind of pointy. Plus, the jewel
case could break. A Live One, on the other hand, is made of
paperboard and has a little "give" to it, which I like in a
sleeping partner.
