Good show but the 5 years off shows with a little vocal ring rust.
Fluffhead is epic with the crowd in full force (I recomment listening
to this AUD version http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=523409 ). Great
energy and enthusiasm. YEM closer is very solid with a great bass solo
and a nice vocal jam.

the only reason I say, is because I think to truly appreciate the 09,
you have to see what they are returning too......

Almost done listening to 06/02/2009 Nikon at Jones Beach Theater,
Wantagh, NY thoughts soon.
Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan and KDF first plays are good. The
fact that KDF was request is kinda cool.
Set I has a good Runaway Jim, Timber and Farmhouse but the real star
is the show ending Hood > Cup and the Suzy encore.
Good show. Solid performances.

Well this is not a stand out show. Average at best.
I enjoyed the Divided Sky in set one and the YEM had some good moments
but the rest of the show is forgettable.

* I think I maybe getting spoiled by the Fall tour shows and it is
tainting my view of Early Summer.
Good Show. Good first set followed by a great second. Sand is the
obvious stand out in this show and Antelope is good as well.

This is probably my favourite early summer Gig so far. First set
featured a nice KDF and some nice songs pulled from Fish's Journal
(Dog Faced Boy, Gumbo and Lengthwise). The Second set is solid.
Backwards Down the Number Line > Ghost > Fast Enough for You, Halley's
Comet > Maze, Alaska all very entertaining and a nice Possum closer.
Good show, with good energy and a good choice of songs.

really liked the Jim/PYITE opening. and the whole of Set II is great.

Bonnaroo YEM > Wilson > YEM was pretty impressive
Bonnaroo I was average until Stash just blew me away. The Darkness
between 12 to 14 minutes is great. I am on Golgi now look forward to
YEM > Wilson > YEM.
I will hunt down 3-22-93 and throw it in the mix.

So as I started down this shows path I was a little underwhelmed. The
Highlight of the first half of the show is Stash that has a great
creepy, dark section around the 12 to 13 minute mark. The show was
good but nothing was kicking my ass. That is until I got to KDF! Wow
this is as good and as Jammed as any KDF I have heard so far. I will
preface this by saying I am a KDF fanboy to start with but this one
just does everything right and then the transition to Free is just
blissful. The rest of the show remains good and definitely worth a
listen and then we get hit again with a YEM > Wilson > YEM sandwich
that seems a little forced but is still very good.

The second show of Bonnaroo is a real mixed bag for me. Set I starts
well and gets strong during Bathtub Gin, Character Zero > Tweezer ->
The Horse > Silent in the Morning but loses me with the emergencence
of BRUUUUUUUCE! I must say that I can respect Mr. Springsteen but I
dislike him very much.
Set II start off smoking with Rock and Roll -> Light > 46 Days and
didn't let me down until the end.
This show could have been real big for me but due to a cameo I didn't
care for I will give it a 3/5
Ditto on the Bruce factor. Many times I find guests are fun in person
but practically un-listenable on tape.

This was the first real let down for me. The energy seemed off and the
boys really sounded like this show was a job. The only thing that
stood out for me was the Halley's > Jim opening of Set II.

was the encore or "trainwreck" section of the show. very funny and
entertaining.

Really good show, I really enjoyed it. One surprise was how good
Lawn Boy was. This is not normally a song that stands out for me but
it was really cool.
My favourite portion of the show was the set 2opening of A Song I
Heard the Ocean Sing > Drowned > Twist.

I was there, first phish show since the re-reunion, awesome energy in
a cool venue but terrible sound(it's a good place too see baseball not
Phish I imagine)highlights have to be Destiny Unbound and Curtis Loew
just for sheer uniqueness and the Tweezer>Light was musically the
highlight for sure...
What a show. Beautiful sounds and great songs. This really is a
special show and a definite 2009 stand out. The Horse > Silent in the
Morning, The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday > Avenu Malkenu > The Man
Who Stepped Into Yesterday Reprise is glorious and even TTE sounds
nice.
Set II is killer and caps off a great show.

Hurray! You finally got to it. The energy of the summer solstice,
the weather, the crowd - everything was right on that night. Both
6/20 and 6/21 re-awakened me to Phish in a most marvelous way. Quite
possibly the highlight of my summer, musically and socially.
They really gave it their all at the close of a great tour that
night~!
True. I rode in on a motorcycle from Madison on 6/20 w/o a ticket and
got a miracle upon arrival.
There were tickets everywhere for free or super inexpensive.
I'm with you, and I even paid for my ticket in full. This show really
took me back to the Phish I always enjoyed. It was a special night,
from the Avinu Malkenu...the whole second set. Great show.

Really Good show. Shockingly (and this may draw criticism) but I think
my favourite song of this show is TTE. It sounds polished and I see
potential for 2 types of Jams in TTE, a slow spacey one in the middle
and a rocking, crunchy one at the end. I also really like the more
country fried version of Water in the Sky. The opening segment of the
second set is brilliant.

Great energy, great setlist and great jams. The ending Jam of Ghost ->

Now this a great way to end a tour and bounce back from a lack luster
show. Moma was good and I was scared because Guyute was sketchy at
best but the boys recovered and gave us a good one.
Set 2 is one of the best complete sets of the summer.

Well what can I say about 8 that I haven't already posted on here. I
remeber sitting on my couch streaming the beautiful sounds of 8 over
the Sirius site and chatting (and avoiding the Google posting limits)
with RMP (a shout out to DEG who I hope will read this soon when he
gets back online). 8 was the moment when I think my interest in Phish
really cemented itself into obsession, so I do not think you are
likely to get an unbiased review but I will try. 8 was very good
overall with a few moments of greatness thrown in to keep it
interesting. I think it is safe to say that the weakest point was the
first set, as has been stated. The first set was clearly a warm up set
and the boys managed to work out a few bugs before hitting use with
really good second set. Set 3 was a good set with a nice rock show
vibe. Set 4 is when 8 peaked for me, the Exile set was a well executed
and high energy set. There were some great some great performances and
some songs that will stick with the boys for some time. Set 5 was an
alright halloween closer that will really only be remembered for the
Suzy encore I think. Set 6 was a beautiful moment as the boys treated
us to an acoustic set that really made me appreciate the beauty of
some of these songs that I had taken for granted. Set 7 was average
and Set 8 closed the fest of nicely.

Hey Halden, so I just started from the beginning of this thread. Got
this far and put on 6/21/09. Really looking forward to listening to it
again, and also catching up with the rest of teh thread. Heluva job
you're doing with this, this is awesome that its here. Thanks.
Onto the Fall Tour. This Fall run has been touted by many as the peak
of 09 so lets see...
Detroit was a great tour opener, a little reserved but solid
performances. The rest of the run will hold stronger shows but this
will definitely stand up to much of 09.
Highlights:
Set 1: Foam, It's Ice, 46 Days
Set 2: Down with Disease -> Free > Waste
Cinci kicks the Fall tour into high gear. What a great show. My
favourite moment was a nice dark Tweezer. The sound and energy was
very good and a show that we should all check out.

Really solid show. Nive banter about Fishman's hometown and some great
songs really well performed. The opening Jam from Drowned to BBFCM is
the best of the Fall so far (I know -7 > Ghost is coming)

Philly Night 1. Man the Fall Tour is even better than I remember. Set
I starts slow with a good but not great CDT but then blows up with a
great Gin that features a nice mellow but not quite ambient Jam. Camel
Walk is funky as hell and we get a nice Reba. Set II is what make this
night great. DWD has a beautiul, dark, ambient Jam that flows
perfectly into a nice 20 years later. The Hood/Mango combo is a lovely
1-2 punch and we close out with Philapaug. The Philly Weekapaug has
gotten its fair share of attention and I think rightfully so. I kinda
like the sped up version and I love the fun in the voices when they
slow it back down and reboot.

Well this is the first show of the fall tour that hasn't blow me
completely away. Solid show that is better than summer but still
weaker than the rest of the fall so far.
Set I cruises along nicely. There is a nice Piano outro on Gumbo, a
nice Jam on It's Ice and a cool set ending ambient Jam in Light.
Set II kicks it up a bit with Golden Age which is a great cover, a
Nice Bluesy On Your Way Down. I was let down though as the ground to a
halt with Tomorrow's song. I could do without Tomorrow's song. The
encore was paid tribute to Jimi. Fire is fun and I called it on RMP to
DEG.
Highlights:

Well Albany night 2 where to begin... The -7 > Ghost has been
discussed and gushed over (deservedly so) but what I think needs
mentioning is that not only is the rest of the second set great but
Set 1 is pretty effing fantastic as well. Set 1 starts strong with a
good Party Time and Stealing Time but I also thought Sanity, SOAM and
Vultures were all really solid. Set 1 had a great flow and good rock
show energy.
The real star of Albany II is set 2 however. We get our head kicked in
with one of the best Jams of 09 right off the top and then we close it
out with a great Wolfman > Julius. The cherry on top is the YEM
encore.
Highlights:
Set 1: Party Time, Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan, Uncle Pen,
Sanity,Split Open and Melt, Vultures
Set 2: Seven Below > Ghost, Wolfman's Brother > Julius

looming MSG shows but Portland seemed to be an average at best show.

Nice Show and a good start to a 3 night stand. Some solid performances

This middle show of the MSG Stand was rescued by its second set. The
first set was average but the second turned it up. Stach was the
clear star of the opening set. DWD > Piper set the tone for a
beautiful second.

Tweezer > Light > Piper > Free is a definite highlight. In fact some
of the best segues of 3.0, for me at least, have involved Light. That
song kind of fools me every time. It doesn't seem like much of a
jamming tune when it starts but they really pull it apart and you
almost get buried in it by the end it becomes so exploratory.
The "naked guy" Antelope topped it off nicely.
The source I was listening to had a VERY loud guy shouting during Ya
Mar. Drunk and/or high possibly but it made me laugh. Might not have
been so much fun if you had to stand next to him though. It was the
Neumann Ak43 Jamie Scott source in case you were wondering.
or even better, the naked fucked up girl during set 2 of the 11/14/98
show.

Great Show. Guys having a blast and they are sounding great. Set I
closes with a Bold as Love that even impressed my aging hippie/Hendrix
nut dad. Set I also gives us the naked Pa!
Set II really blew me away with the Tweezer -> Light > Piper -> Free
combo easily landing in my top 5 jams of the year.

Ahh Miami, lets bring the heat.
This show is really nice lead into the 4 days of face melting that
Miami will be. Solid performances and great sets. Mike was KILLING it
( I am sure this will be repeat throughout the Miami run)

So the NYE show itself. Set 1 I was fairly indifferent about, it was
OK but not great. Set 2 kicks the night's festivities into High Gear.
Ghost -> NO2 is a one, two face melting combo that is driven and
guided by some of the best bass playing I have ever heard. Set 3/
Encore is a lovely cherry on top of a great show and a good year. The
only really bad thing I have to say about this show is that the gag is
dull on tape but that is easily dealt with by skipping.
Highlights:

Set 2: Rock and Roll > Piper > Simple > Theme From the Bottom, Ghost -

Good idea, in fact if you can hunt down all of the archival releases,
they were chosen to be remastered for a reason, they are all great
shows. Durham 93... best show ever imo.
