That is indeed true. However, humans run Phish News and therfore mistakes can
be made. When mistakes are in fact made, they are corrected.

I am the daily news editor for Jambands.com and would never publish a story
without checking the facts first. I assure you I checked with the Phish
organization before posting the story.
Check out the site at www.jambands.com. We have daily news and I don't publish
rumors (or smoke crack).

Let me clarify this. Phish-News is a service run by the Phish.Net. The
Phish.Net is run solely by a sometimes-coherent, sometimes-not collection
of volunteers (it is in our plans to make exactly who we are more a part
of the project, as opposed to a blank "Phish.Net" face).
Phish-News is set-up to be an announcement list of major Phish/Phish.Net
news. It is not run by the band. However, Shelly Culbertson, the band's
informal "internet manager" and Ticket Goddess, does use Phish-News to
make official announcements at times, and we are more than glad to allow
her to use the list. Nonetheless, you must judge the posts to Phish-News
based on who posts them -- Shelly's posts are official. My posts, or
posts from any one else (setlists, etc.) are the product of careful, but
very human gathering of facts.
Therefore, please do not consider Phish-News "official." The person who
writes each post determines the validity of the information. The
Phish.Net staff is committed to providing the best information we have --
and we LOVE to have you correct us when we are wrong.
Thanks!

Agreed. See above.
Nonetheless, you are not a source of "official news" for Phish either.

I commend you on your accuracy, Jeff. I made my post on the best
information I had available to me.

I'm glad you're the "daily news editor" of something so "official" that
has "daily news." However, I resent the implication that Phish-News
publishes rumors. We do our best to present the most accurate Phish news
that we can on a timely basis. We make mistakes.
Nonetheless, we are committed to providing the best service we can in an
environment completely free of commercial interest or advertising. I'd
say that's a mission worthy of some respect.
