NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — A 19-year-old woman was
pronounced dead today at Riverview Hospital after authorities rushed her
from a campground where fans of the rock group Phish have been staying.
Police were called to the scene on a report of a
woman who had stopped breathing as a result of a suspected drug
overdose. The death came the morning after the rock band had completed
a three-night stand at Deer Creek.
Phish attracts a following of fans from across
the country. Authorities had estimated that up to150,000 fans would be
in the Noblesville area this week, many staying at 18 campgrounds set up
in Hamilton and Madison counties.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the
Deer Creek Campground, 14701 Olio Road, at 9:51 a.m. today.
Police said emergency medical personnel attempted
to revive the woman with a portable defibrillator. The name of the woman
has not been released, pending notification of family members.
There have been numerous drug-related arrests in
Hamilton and Madison counties involving the fans, but only a small
number of those occurred inside the music center. Two people from out of
state who had been staying in campgrounds died last year while Phish
played at Deer Creek.

i'd definitely agree that a show is the wrong place to
"experiment." if you don't know what you're getting into,
then do your experimenting in the safety of your own home /
neighborhood / local art display (anybody been to the Getty
center in LA--very trippy spot, btw). anyway, point is
don't get all phucked up in a strange place with a bunch of
crazies you don't know. the kindness of strangers (and
even your buddies after they get wrecked) is good to hope
for, but bad to have to rely on. don't put yourself in a
situation you're not totally sure you can get yourself out
of, and don't go to shows just to get trashed--waste of a
ticket for sure, and, more tragically, sometimes a waste of
a life.

here here, i started drinking beers at about 12:30 pm on wednesday.....
after about 3-4 and 100000000 degree sun for a few hours i was feeling on my
edge of death, my only saving grace was that i made friends with a water
guy...
(give a guy a show on cd and they like you!!!) anyway i was nearly down for the
count and i began to comsume mass quantities of water while hiding from the
sun. and all i had to show for it was a minor annoying headache (could have
been worse) to go into the show with.....

I would like to second this Fuck You if I could. He makes a good point
about things in moderation and grass/shrooms vs. X/Coke/acid but to tie
it in with this poor girl while not knowing any of the details is
irresponsible and wrong...I had a close friend pass last Oct and her
name was unfairly dragged through mud pretty good. This is very hard
on the families and friends who are going through enough already.

You are so angry it has become quite pathetic. BTW it generally would help your
argument if you would say something that intelligent which might show that
you know what your talking about....which you apparantly don't.

BTW what do you know about this tragedy?

I would label Nitrous, Xtacy and Speed as a bad gamble, but to toss Acid in
with that group is just plain ludicrous! Show me ONE documented case of a
death as a direct result of ingesting LSD...I won't wait up! ;-)

I would even go as far as to say that herbs and beers are also a
gamble...weed increases your chances of bronchial related disease (ask Carl
Sagan) and I don't even want to do into all the deaths and problems that
are caused as a direct result of alcohol.

Telling people to stay off acid and to promote weed and beer is silly...I
would advise them to use all three...in moderation of course! ;-)

Two words of advice...NO POWDER...and you will MUCH better off.

P.S. If Ecstacy is not the same X as they made in the 80s when is was GOOD
and readily available in Deep Ellum and other hot spots...why the big hype
with it now?

Dr. Frank Olson died as a result of ingesting LSD....
So there is at least one person who died....

To each there own....

Details? Source? Or this another case of "it's on the internet, so it must
be true"? Back it up or take it back!

"Dr. Frank Olson" sounds a lot like "Gene Walsh of the Phillippines," the
mythic man immortalized in chain letters around the world. He broke the
chain and six months later he died!

The lethal human dose for LSD is so large that it's for all practical
purposes impossible to "overdose" in a physiological sense.

Come on Michelle...he died as a result of falling (perhaps even pushed) out
of a ten story window! And you had to go back to some CIA conspiracy in
1953!! He only ingested 70 micrograms of LSD (my cat can do more than that)
in a glass of Cointreau which probably fucked him up more on the Acid.

Besides, this incident is a case of someone (the CIA of all people) giving
Acid to an UNWILLING participant.

To each their own...yes...but don't give out FALSE information.

If Acid Bob survived the "incident" in college back in 1980, there is no
lethal dose....

Dr. Frank Olson, if my memory serves me correctly, was secrectly dosed
by the CIA in the fifties to see if LSD could be used as some sort of
truth serum. Dr. Olson, not sure what the fuck was going and tripping
BALLS, freaked and jumped out of a window to his death.
His death resulted from the fall, NOT FROM
LSD!

Hey,
I knew someone who died as a result of ingesting LSD. It was his first
time, and didn't know the effects or the amount of dosage he should take.
So he downed a five tabs. The kids house he was at was chill until the kids
mother came home and my friend (Jeremy Lang, Centerville, MA died '95-'96
not sure) punched her in the face for no reason. He then was thrown out of
the house into the rain, only to take his clothes off, run 5 miles (towards
his house). About a mile from his house he drowned in a puddle, ( how he
ended up in the puddle is unknown to me, but I am sure the police know)
Personally I consider this death due to the fact that Jeremy ingested
LSD, granted he wasn't smart in his use of the drug, but I believe he is no
longer here today because of LSD.
I still believe in the power of LSD and encourage its use among people
who are mentally stable enough to handle it. I also encourage its use in
moderation, like 1 tab for the first 50 times you drop. Then you can move
on to great numbers.
Everybody This Is Important:

SMOKE MORE POT 4:20

I feel the LSD, mushrooms, and marijuana are the only three drugs or
form of a drug that should be used. E, Nitrous, Speed, Ya Yo should never
be taken.

I know this is rambling, but I am baked and felt like writing a long
response.

Peace
Jimmy

What happened at Deer Creek Onsite was a tragedy no matter what the cause. A
young woman died. She was a beautiful person and a member of our community,
our family. I didn't know her, but I watched her die. I thought by coming
here (mislead by the subject title) that I would find some comforting words, or
maybe a little more info, but all I found was a bunch of CRAP!!! Shame on all
of you using it as a forum for your thoughtless opinions. There are many
rumors about how she died, and not all of them involve drugs. Instead of
speculating, why not offer prayers for her family and friends, because the last
thing on their minds right now is drugs. Have some compassion people. Someone
just like you lost their life. A phan. So forget the petty bullshit and share
the love.

I'm not trying to start an argument here but I must disagree. I saw one of
her friends the morning of her death crying and consolling other friends
only to be selling heroin in the lot THE NEXT DAY. I'm not kidding, I heard
it.
