I saw them at my first three or four shows. I thought they were pretty
cool, but the lights these days blow the socks off 'em. The Phish
Companion says The Minkins were a stage backdrop used '91-'94
originally on canvas later on glass loved for being so moving yet
abstract enough that any two viewers saw different things.

I wanted to reminisce. Yet I can not find any pictures of them. Any
help?

Still no pics, but found a shot on youtube. 8-8-93 FEFY. Best glimpse
of the Minkins in all their glory is at 3:18.

Anyone who hasn't seen lights from this era should check this out.
Quite different than today.

I actually have a very old Phish poster from 1994 that has the Minkins
in it. It's still hanging in my garage. That set/stage design has a
special place in my heart as that was the first year I saw them live.
They went away in 95 when the band vs. fans chess matches began.

Not Minkin, but you gotta love it. I'll never forget when I first
walked into New Haven Coliseum, 12/29/1993, and saw the stage. Awesome!

I found out about Marjorie Minkin about 8 years ago...from this group I
think. She is Mike's mom... Those are hot stage backdrops for sure.
She did a project with Mike a few years ago..
