Could someone give me information about Anna Mary Dickey - probably
actively singing in the 20's and 30's in the US. Any ifo would be
greatly appreciated. Dave

Annamary Dickey (born Decatur IL b. 4/11/1911) made her Met debut 11/29/9 as
L'Ombra Felice in ORFEO ED EURIDICE and also sang Musetta in BOHEME often
there, starting 1/27/40. She sang small parts in MANON, LOUISE, FIGARO and
LAKME and was with the company until1943. She made a later career in supper
clubs and I believe on Broadway, later teaching as Annamary Dickey Laue.
She died 6/1/1999 at 87 in Tampa.

Donations are sought to establish a scholarship fund in Miss Dickey's name.

Most notably originating the role of the protagonist's mother in Rodgers
and Hammerstein's ALLEGRO in 1947, in which she had the songs "A Fellow
Needs a Girl" and "Come Home."

She was the standby Anna for Rise Stevens in the 1964 New York State Theatre
KING AND I revival also starring Darin McGavin, Patricia Neway, Lee Venora,
Frank Porretta and Michael Kermoyan.
