For those who have been hoping for a killfile solution to reading
usenet newsgroups on Google, the cure is finally here. Using the
FireFox browser ( Mozilla.org ) , download the add-on ( click TOOLS,
get add-ons) Greasemonkey. Use Google to find: google groups killfile
scripts greasemonkey. Download to install. Next to every user's name
you will see IGNORE USER. Happy browsing!

Bet than you can ALL depend on the ever-counter- productive
'ancona-ljo'-la-stinkeau bollmann21
- to make ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN, by its compulsive habit of
stalking/quoting, that the posts of whomever you Killfile will pop right
up in front of your orbs - DESPITE all your labored efforts against
reading them.

'Mozilla'? HA!

Ainit....... wunnerful??

L.A.T. - for wunnerfulness, a great commodity

Does it work with a MAC?

And a reminder, also, that this setup allows you to kill complete
threads. Very handy for spam, and some other situations as well.
Thanks, Mark!

Ken,
Today when I opened RMO I saw only a handful of threads, not the
usual 50. Interesting how manageable the group is once the chaff and
the spam is eliminated.

For some reason, Firefox also runs faster on my PC's, both at home and
work, and has other added benefits (for example, when you close, you
have the option of saving any webpages you have open, so next time you
open Firefox, you are back where you were before). But the big
advantage, as you note, is the ability to make Usenet manageable via
Google.

BTW, rec.music.classical.recordings, which has become virtually
unreadable via IE, is also a much more pleasant place, once the
Firefox/Greasemonkey solution has been employed.

Bill, Ken,
I've used FireFox for years. Look through the other add-ons because
there are some terrifics apps available. My top few are: AdBlock -
eliminates all advertising from web pages. Great if you read
newspapers online, for example. Qtl, highlight a word and right-click
for instant search results on Google. Very handy for translating
(download the dictionary apps, too) or general interest.

Best,
Mark
