I am listening to the overtures of "Leichte Kavallerie" (Light Cavalry) and "Dichter und Bauer" (Poet and Peasant) of von Suppe. Information about the plots of these operettas is rare, especially about "Dichter und Bauer".
It appears that the original libretto of "Dichter und Bauer" was by Karl Elmar, but based on the webpage at
https://www.sikorski.de/563/de/0/a/0/operette/1002012_6_bilder.html there is another version by Gustav Quedenfeldt written in 1936.
Additionally, at IMDb there is a 1912 film titled "Poet and Peasant" directed by William V. Ranous. The plot summary is at
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0222281/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl and, it is about the romantic adventure of a poet, Louis La Salle, from Paris who is having a walking tour in Normandy.
Is the plot of this 1912 film the same as that of the original libretto of "Dichter und Bauer"?
