Why such hyperbolic bellowing? You post is logically inconsistent,
admitting that you had not problems with Premiere Opera before,
apparently with numerous orders; now you claim that you've been ripped
off.. Did it ever cross your mind that an honest mistake was made, or
that the post office screwed up. I am sure Premiere Opera will make
it right. Like you, I have placed numerous orders with them in the
past, and without any problems. I even recommended Premiere Opera to
friends. So, just calm down a bit.
Frank Adler
Mr. Adler,
I don't think I'm bellowing. My issue with Premiere opera is that I
was told
that the order was shipped to me and I would receive it in a few
days. This
after numerous emails that were not answered. I think that after
eight weeks,
I should have had my order by now or an explanation from them as to
why my
order has not been received. In my emails to Premiere Opera, I
even
asked them if they received the order, because I know that it could
have gotten
screwed up in the mail, but no response. Why encourage someone to
send
an email concerning your order if you fail to respond to the email?
Whenever I place an order with them, I usually receive it within
two weeks.
It has been eight weeks and is now heading into the ninth week.
Good for
you that you recommended Premiere to someone. Like I stated in my
earlier
post, I still do not plan to order from them again because of the
lack of
response I have received from them.
This is typical. You dont see Ed responding to any of these posts. I
had a situation with an order as well and tried to get them to respond
to several emails and never heard from them. Take the money and run
I will never resond to a blackmail such as posting to a group. If you
write me privately, you get an answer, I have answered every business
e-mail myself for over two months now. We have been in business for 41
years. That doesn't happen by us cheating people. We do not "take the
money and run." We deliver the goods, and we even give away many, many
CDs and DVDs gratis just for the joy of sharing music.
I suggest you seek your online CDs and/or DVDs elsewhere if you are
not satisfied.
Your order will be filled. If I didn't answer your e-mail(s) it is
because I never received them. That is all I will say in a public
forum. You may say anything you wish. Write me privately and you will
get a courteous response, This will be my first and last public
response.
One question. How does this post, dated Feb 9, manage to show up at
the top of the list every day?? A nice trick. Bravo.
Ed
I can answer that. It doesn't. What does happen is the same thing that
happens in every thread on all Google Groups. When there is a new post
to an existing thread Google kicks it up to the top so you don't have
to go digging around in the basement to see if there are any new posts
to the thread. It's very clever of Google to do that. Nobody else can
do it. If you look around at the other threads you will notice that
they all get refreshed in that fashion as new posts get added.
LJO, Google Groupy
amazingly, that's the same way webtv does it ljo. i see 100 posts per
page with a total maximum of 15 pages or 1500 posts. so if a post is
originated february 7th and lays dormant for several days, it will
appear right at the top if and when someone "responds" to it.
i don't get them as emails (which i often wouldn't read) so can be
selective as to what i click on.
btw ljo, i don't try the times puzzle until thursday. i like to do the
ones i either have lots of trouble finishing or don't come close to
completing. thursday is usually a 50-50 chance of completing it. friday
and saturday are less than a 10% chance i can finish one.
to anyone who finished saturday's, my sombrero is off to them. i don't
think i did 25% of it.
frank
Yeah, Saturday was a tough one.
ljo
You state that you answer every email that you receive huh?
Well, it's very strange to me that I've sent you at least four
emails
within the last 2 weeks about an order placed with you in December
and never got a response from you.
Sometimes Ed and i disagree..OK..but I know what his reputation
is..and he does not need dumb nasty comments.....His orders are
filled..if maybe they are a bit slow...that is because so many people
love his catalogue...so just do not be so violent...
ED....do I get a free DVD now???CH
I have ordered from Ed quite a number of times and have never been less than
completely satisfied. I only wish all businessmen were as honest and
reliable as he is. I think the original poster's attitude is unfortunate and
reflects poorly only on him, not on Ed.
Ron
With all due respect Ed, You are a gentleman but not a great
businessman.
I love your product and have bought from you for years. We have
corresponded by email and phone several times, yet I have not placed
any new orders. The OP is out of line. I have never acused you of
cheating
or stealing. You always make thing right. My issue and that of many
friends
who no longer wish to order from premiere is and always has been the
very long lead times and the mistakes. You violate the cardinal rules
of good business, Happy customers and "A" team players . It is a shame
because there are many opera lovers myself included that would love to
order from you again. The answer should not be "email me and I will
make it right"
You shoud have employees that can do the magic that you can.
Just my 2 cents
I wish you the best as always
David
I have a totally innocent question.
Why does this very same post seem to make it's way back to the top of
the list of new posts even when it is not a new post? Yesterday, it
was on top for a while, although the last post was made on Feb 14. All
the other posts had yesterday's date of Feb 17. There was no new post
on this thread, and yet somehow, or perhaps by somebody, it keeps
appearing at the top.
This morning there was a new post from Dbloom. Fine. It was at or near
the top for a while. Then other posts were made about different
threads, and the post kept getting lower and lower in the order in
which it is displayed. Just now, it was back at the top, though it was
made around 5 AM, and other posts that had bumped it down were now
bumped down themselves, and this post rises to the top again, and no
new post caused this.
Can someone please explain this to me? Thanks.
Best
Ed
Yes someone using an ID that seems prima facie to be yours simply
presses 'reply' without altering the text. It's a standard technique for
bumping up messages, often for legitimate purposes, without actually
adding more.
Eg if I posted "Opera-L is down yet again", and "replied" to it from
time to time without adding anything, it would stay near the top and
often be top, so that anyone wanting to know if it was just them could
surf to rmo and find out quickly that Opera-L is down, again
Are we having fun, troll? You know, even though the post is negative,
I noticed a decided increase in web sales every time it goes back to
the top, so please, keep up the good work. Don't expect a commission,
however.

Then why must you inflict it on rec.music.classical.recordings, where
nobody cares?

Now, as to my excellent Bahamas cruise, Mrs Little Jimmy and I have
begun bickering over which music we should take aboard our 27 foot
sloop. Yes yes, I am aware that music no longer requires much space,
thank you very much. But there is the longstanding policy of Olsen's
iron discipline aboard ship to consider.
Our only mandatory music is Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville album, a
dozen of our favorite versions of Wimoweh, my Afghanistan steel drum
Reggae album, and Vivian's "It's a lazy afternoon". We seek your
assistance in filling out the balance of our cruise repertory.
Assuming a cruise duration of about four weeks, what would be your
sine qua non bit of music to take along, not to exceed 1 CD?
Never mind what you think Mrs LJO and yrs truly might like - what do
you like? Only one per customer please.
Thanks,

What are you talking about, Matthew??? I have never been on
rec.music.classical.recordings in my life. If this same message is
appearing there, it is the Studertroll, not me. He is the one who
keeps making it appear here, and he must be the one who makes it keep
appearing there. Why the hell would I want this message to appear
everywhere? For all I know, he has posted it on other groups, too.
Just don't keep feeding the jerk, and sooner or later he will go away.

Probably the best suggestion I've seen yet. I'll add the term "Premiere
Opera" to my scoring file.

A fowl suggestion, that!
Now I am getting upset. I have emailed and asked for follow-ups to my
order (placed the first week of January) and the response I got was
that the order was being sent the week of Feb. 11. I have not
received the disks. All other requests for order status have been
answered with a canned response talking about holiday backlogs and a
new order filling process with no mention whatsoever of what happened
to the disks, if in fact they were sent Feb. 11 or not, when I can
expect them if they were not sent at that time - something applicable
to MY order at least. The same generic response in all the email
follow-ups is not what I consider a courteous one. I believe what is
happening now is that when an inquiry comes in, Premiere Opera simply
hits the button to reply with the pre-scripted response without any
regard to addressing the specific questions. Again, that is not what
I consider a "courteous" response.
I would not start such a thread as this myself but since it is here
and since I am having these problems I'll take advantage of it to
mention something else. A year or so ago Premiere was looking for the
old London recording of highlights from Mefistofele with Siepi,
Tebaldi and DiStefano. I wrote and said I had it. I was offered a
trade for it so I made a copy of the album on a disk, packaged it up
and sent it to Premiere (I think since that time it has appeared on
their podcast board). I included a request for the trade I wanted in
their catalog. Never heard back. I sent a couple emails to remind
them and one was answered asking what disk in trade I wanted (I don't
know what they did with the original note attached to the disk I
sent). It was a simple request - anything having the young Carreras
and Caballe together. Thats all, nothing fancy. Well, I gave the
request once again and have never heard a thing since.
So, I don't know what the deal here is and although things involving
the brotherhood of opera are better left to private handling rather
than placed on a public forum, since this thread is here and under the
circumstances as the OP intimates, maybe things are going to pot for
some reason and others should indeed be cautioned.

Just an update. Once I contacted Ed by personal email and explained
the situation he made it right. I think if there is a problem it is
not with Ed but with some of his helpers. If you have a problem, get
him personally involved and the problem will go away.
