1. I retract my statement that the latest book of Marianne Luban, "The Exodus
Chronicles" is "a cut and paste job". I have not read this book nor do I have
any specific knowledge of its contents.

2. I apologize for posting the only negative review accessible at Amazon.com
for Marianne Luban's book, "The Samaritan Treasure" and for maintaining this
was the only review that should be taken into consideration as the others were
written by biased reviewers sympathetic to the Holocaust.

3. I apologize for having brought the personal life of Marianne Luban into
this newsgroup by informing about her past litigation and subjecting her to
ridicule and scorn thereby. The case had no relevance to opera whatsoever. I
apologize for my uninformed legal remarks and for inciting the same from those
who responded to my message introducing the subject.

4. I apologize for going along with, and adding to, the false premise that
Marianne Luban is romantically involved with Leonard Tillman and for alleging
that she is "humorless" because she does not find this funny. I have no
knowledge whatsoever about the private or romantic associations of Marianne
Luban.

Nice wording, Van Scheiss. A wise choice.

But I've complete faith in you: - you'll mess up just as royally again,
-- later, or very probably sooner.

Trustingly,

Well, now that we're all friends again, I think it would be the sporting thing
for Mr Tillman to retract his offensive, obscene and patently false accusations
regarding Mr Silverman and his children.

You know they were lies, we know they were lies.

Even your buddies know they were lies.

Elvis knows they were lies.

C'mon Lennie.

Step up to the plate and do the right thing. That sort of thing is way out of
line, even by the regrettably loose standards of rmo discourse.

Be a mensch for once. Do something to earn the respect to which you so
devoutly aspire. You had mine once, and a lot of other people's. And you
pissed it all away with lies and venom directed against a guy that (with the
possible exception of Mr Ellsworth) everyone else here -- I repeat, EVERYONE
-- agrees is a decent guy. No matter how many times you call him a Nazi and a
pervert.

All because he needled you about the number of posts you make.

How about you make a start toward winning that respect back?

Pat

Pat,

My opinion is that solicited apologies don't work.

If LT does not, of his own accord feel impelled to apologize, so be it. He
must (and does) live with his conscience.

Can't we just settle for LT desisting from heaping additional insults upon
Steve?

I admire Steve for his patience and his forbearance.

The problem with insults is that third parties are likely to reproduce them,
*ad infinitum*. Even were LT to stop immediately, we can expect to continue to
see the old insults cited by others.

I would hope that not only LT ceases adding to the anthology but others refrain
from reproducing scurrilous remarks.

In time, perhaps, LT and Steve can make their peace privately.

The Presumptious little Ratty Patty:

>Well, now that we're all friends again,

What's this? You base your statement on exactly *what*, Li'l Pattycakes?

My comments were in return for ones no less offensive than Sil Vermin's
toward me.

His views on my postings never entitled him to indulge in his offensive,
obscene and patently false accusations regarding me, Ms. Luban, and my
character, "psychoses", etc. as well as his insane, cackling "limerick"
about my dog.

He NEVER retracted a word of it, due to his being every bit as vile as
i've said he is, - and possibly a darn sight worse.

You do know, Patty, that they were lies, we know they were lies.
Even your buddies, Patty, know quite well they were lies.

And yes, Elvis knows they were lies. Only you don't, it would seem.

C'mon Patty,

"Step up to the plate" (not the din-din plate) and do the right thing.
Admit you're a vindictive little jerk who frankly deserved what that
local "pitching champ" attempted some months back.
God knows what snide remarks, etc. you nonchalantly tossed his way.
Others may not appreciate your self-proclaimed "Swiftian wit".

Bet that they don't.

Steve's sort of pompous, arrogant shtick is way out of line, even by the

regrettably loose standards of rmo discourse.

Be a mensch for once in your Hypocritical, dopey, little life, Pattey.

Do something to earn the respect to which you so devoutly, and noisily,
and pompously aspire.

You had mine once, and a lot of other people's.

You certainly lost mine. And that of some others'.

And you pissed it all away with lies and venom directed against a guy

who did no worse than to tell off aggressors who need and deserve it -
and who loves his pooch - Platonically, if you could relate to that.
Perhaps you can't.

Moreover,
your Ode to Steve is a crock and you know it.

How about you make a start toward winning that respect back, not that
you'll ever succeed, Patteycakes, but watcha got to lose? Eh, Revvie?
;-)))))

Hmm....firstly, and for a suitable time period, "can't we just settle
for" Steve desisting from heaping additional insults, or if you like
"comments" upon LT?? :))))))

Ainna gonna happen. I promise. Unless the little funsters' crap stops
PRONTO, - which ALSO ainna gonna happen. That, too, - I can promise,
unfortunately.

Yes, - like Patty's little "Contribution" here. Though I freely admit
that it IS sidesplittinely funny - if inadvertently so.

Pat,
A noble gesture. Not bloody likely, though.

Fun? Sure, but only to the giggling, jibbering sadistic bums who
deliberately initiate the fights. Should they lose their eyes, it would
be no real loss, Cyclopses that they are. - They can't SEE, anyway,
except what they want to -- and that, distortedly. To them, all's the
reflection of a Fun House mirror. Must be a bitch to shave in front of
one.

Hardly noble when in the context of same he goes ahead and insults me and shows
his true colors -- a genuine asshole.

Well, at least he's genuine in that single way.

Aside from other disagreements we have, you're right on the money, on
*this* matter.

Gees, you're touchy.

Would you please read what I said for once, before snapping at me?

All I said (vis-a-vis you) was that "with the possible exception of Mr
Ellsworth everyone here agrees that Steve is a decent guy."

How is that an insult? I didn't characterize the nature of your disagreement
with him, (although I have my opinion of it), but you and he did get into it
over his "Christ" remark, did you not?

I originally had written that everyone (other than LT) got along with Mr
Silverman just fine. But then I remembered your dispute with him. So, anxious
to be as accurate as possible, I worded my comment as I did.

How any reasonable person could interpret that sentence as insulting to you is
beyond me.

He did not insult you Terry, but you insulted him. Please consider an apology.

Respectfully,

Paul
