I knew Eileen and her husband Aldo for a number of years. We actually
put out a CD of her in recital. Also, a Sonnambula from Carnegie Hall
with Sutherland, before her Met debut, where Di Tullio sings the
Lisa.
She was a fine coloratura, with a voice that was probably just a tad
too small for a major career, but it was a fine voice. She told me
that one of her fondest memories was singing Gilda in Rigoletto in
Philadelphia in the 60's with a cast that included Peerce and MacNeil.
Her husband, Aldo, was a voice teacher and coach for many years, and
related to soprano Norina Greco, who sings Leonora on the Met
Trovatore broadcast in 1941 with Bjoerling. Aldo played for and
coached countless famous singers, including Bjoerling.
