What is Caruso singing when Big Jim Colosimo is whacked at the end of the
first episode of Boardwalk Empire? His brains are blown out onto a photo
of Caruso as Pagliacci, but I'm pretty sure the music isn't from
Pagliacci. Is it from Cavalleria Rusticana?

Could we have a clip of the film so we can have a guess, General?

I haven't seen this show, but I am sure Caruso was singing this in
Sicilian, as is the custom, and not in Italian. I don't have the
Sicilian words handy, but many words, such as cammisa, end with a "u"
and come out "cammisu."

In the linked recording it is clearly "cammisa", Mr. Kreskin. But
perhaps you can assist me with another thorny question. What will be
the final score of the Jets/Dolphins game tomorrow evening?

Here's a tranche of guys pronouncing 'cammisa' as 'cammisa'. In fact,
the only one I could find who didn't pronounce it 'cammisa' was Joseph
Schmidt who pronounced it 'wanger'. And that's because he sang it in
German.

Thanks for confirming that, I thought it might be O Lola but I wanted
someone with a better ear than mine to make the call.

It just started on HBO, I doubt that they've released it to the net
except to subscribers.
