At 1'40" and again at about 4", you feel that he can barely give the
interview with a straight face....he seems to me a complete phoney.
And obviously you would need much LOUDER singers for the Met :-)
One of these days Bieito is going to *really* shock us........by doing
something in correct period costume that doesn't involve full frontal
nudity, violence, drugs or rape

Too difficult to cast. American males are much bigger, if
you know where I mean.
Well, yes... ie, except for certain American 'specimens' I tend to
comment on, at rmo. They've no such 'where' - of *any* dimensions.
It's sad, really....

Oh, please !
I wouldn't cross the road for that lot....
If you have nicely chilled champagne at home, you don't go 800 miles
for warm, flat beer, trust me.

Er, America ?
You wish. Dream on. Some of us can offer expert testimony on this

"The opening question immediately revealed the cross-examiner's
skill.....Wilde's statement about his age gave Carson his cue.
"You stated that your age is thirty-nine. I think you are over forty.
You were born on the 16th of October, 1854? [I'm not making up the
date, you know]. Carson emphasized the point by holding up a copy of
the witness' birth certificate.
Wilde appeared momentarily disconcerted, but he quickly recovered his
composure. "I have no wish to pose as being young", he replied
sweetly. "You have my certificate and that settles the matter."
"But," Carson persisted, "being born in 1854 makes you more than 40?"
"Ah, very well," Wilde agreed with a sigh, as if to congratulate his
opponent on a remarkable feat of mathematics.
It was a small point that Carson had scored in the duel of wits, but
not without considerable importance.

Well of course it does, dear : after all, you were there, weren't
you ? All three trials, I don't doubt, such being your appetite for

1895 - which would allow anyone else to work out the maths ).

REG's birth details are, alas, still awaiting transliteration and
interpretation from the original cuneiform as found cut into a cave
