Hi,

who can tell me which opera is staged in "Hannibal" ?

Is it an original work - or written specially for this movie? The only clue
I got is that the libretto is by Dante ("The Divine Comedy"??) - but that
isn't enough.

Thanks.

Hi - there are a couple of threads on Hannibal here if you do some
searching. It was an original aria with Dante's "La Vita Nuova" as the
libretto. Try doing a search on that, I recall having seen the poem online
somewhere. I finally got to see this movie Friday night. From having read
the book and the reviews I was all worried it might make me sick, but the
gore wasn't as bad as I thought. Itchy and Scratchy (the cartoon within a
cartoon on The Simpsons) has stuff that is more graphic then most of the
stuff in Hannibal. Loved seeing Hopkins as Lecter again. I'm going to get
the soundtrack and looking forward to when it comes out on video/DVD.

I have not seen the movie ( yet?), but there is also a cantata for baritone,
soprano, chorus, orchestra, organ and piano by Wolf-Ferrari, his Op 9, from
1902 which sets Dante's text, "La Vita Nuova".

In article <mVyo6.22692$__6.62...@typhoon.southeast.rr.com>,
Eugene Onegin. The scene contains several inaccuracies you can point out
and annoy your friends.

I'm not quite sure which opera it's from, but I do know that the featured song is called "Vide Cor Meum". I think that Katherine Jenkins has the most beautiful rendition of it.
