A Nick Lowe Discography (first attempt)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All songs written and produced by Nick Lowe unless specified otherwise.
{ } denotes song on a contemporary album. (ps) denotes picture sleeve for
single. (l) denotes live recording. all dates following label and number
are UK release dates; r. sep 78 denoted recording date.
Nick joined Kippington Lodge towards the end of their career, and may be on
the last two of their five singles. Band changed name to Brinsley Schwarz
(after their guitarist) in 1969, Nick assuming chief songwriting duties. LPs:
"Brinsley Schwarz"
"Despite it All"
"Silver Pistol"
"Nervous on the Road"
"Please Don't Ever Change"
"New Favourites"
"Original Golden Greats"
"15 Thoughts of Brinsley Schwarz" {compilation LP}
also on some other compliation/live albums. details later (in life - not here !)
Band crumbles in spring of 1975. Several members end up in the Rumour.
What follows attempts to document Nick Lowe the writer and recording artist.
We do not consider his extensive production work at all, so there !

Bay City Rollers We Love You [a BCR like tune, DE must have helped him here !]
Rollers Show
4-song 7" that appears to be from Holland. It has a
United Artists logo on the front and an EMI logo on the back. The two Rollers
songs are attributed to the Tartan Horde (Terry Modern-Lead Vocals; Mouse
Modern-Drums and Vocals; Ray Marmalade-Keyboards and Vocals; Susie Marmalade-
Lead Guitar and Vocals; Mary McKeown-Bass Guitar and Vocals). The biography
reads:
"The Tartan Horde was formed by Terry Modern early in 1975.
Terry chose the name Tartan Horde to express his devotion
to Scotland, the home of the Bay City Rollers. As a con-
firmed Roller fan, Terry wanted to express his dedication
and wrote the song "Bay City Rollers We Love You" which he
then recorded with some ex-school friends and his brother
Mouse. Their principal intention was to do this one song.
However, fate decided otherwise.
"By chance, Andrew Lauder, Head of A&R at United Artists
Records London, heard the tape and immediately asked Terry
Modern to go into the studio and make a proper recording
of "Bay City Rollers We Love You."
"When completed, the single was rushed to Japan, just
before the Bay City Rollers were due to visit and it hit
the charts almost immediately. Since this happening, other
countries have shown interest and Terry will shortly com-
plete a new single and start recording an album. You can
be sure that this album will be full of Roller dedications!
"The success of "Bay City Rollers We Love You" has taken
Tartan Horde by surprise, because what started out as purely
a personal ambition has now developed into a situation
where Tartan Horde must consider preparing themselves for
live appearances."
"Rollers Show" turned up on the American issue of Lowe's first solo album.
The other two songs on the 7" are "Let's Go to the Disco" and "Everybody
Dance", both attributed to "The Disco Bros."... apparently yet another name
for Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds.
