I saw Pianosaurus around 1988(?) and thought they were terrific.
Anybody know what became of them?? Are their albums available on
cd?

For those of you who aren't familiar with Pianosaurus, they were a
highly original band who played only TOY INSTRUMENTS! (You know --
plastic Kiss guitars, or the Peanut's Schroeder-model piano.) OK,
they were really a novelty act, but I have to think that anyone who
could make actual music with fake instruments must do wonders with
the `real' thing! Perhaps they became a `legit' band?!

A little help out there?
Any info Gary L.??

Thanks,
don.

According to the Trouser Press Guide, bandleader Alex Garvin disappeared,
"apparently in the emotional footprints of his musical influences, Brian
Wilson and Alex Chilton". A shame; I saw them at Maxwell's once and they
were truly cool. Behind the toy instruments there was real musicianship
and songwriting ability. Not sure if "Groovy Neighborhood" (their only
professionally released album) has been released on CD, but since it was
released on folkie label Rounder, it's probably still available since I
think it's company policy not to let things go out of print.
