In my books, friend, nothing has ever come close to "Frampton Comes Alive"
by Peter Frampton ... and if I look at sales figures for that double LP
set, millions of others like(d) it as well.

Considering how much we agree (ABB and James Brown, not to mention admiting
liking Frampton Comes Alive, though I would have to include Ian Hunter's Live
album and that we are the only two people who don't like Live at Leeds),
I find it amazing that you actually like Certified Live. Definitely, my
least favorite live album ever. And probably my least favorite album by
a performer who has made some of my favorite albums (*Traffic* and *Alone
Together*). I can't imagine what about it you like. Well, isn't it amazing
how different everyone is eventually.

How about "Stages" by Triumph. Just a great live album from
start to finish. Even throws in a couple previously unreleased tunes.
Check it out: you'll be surprised.

Yah, but when I go to the swap meet, every ragged vinyl vendor
has at least one copy of FCA, along with all the Neil Diamond
and Barbra Streisand LPs.

It took me *years* to round up a copy of the Dictators' "Go

What have we started?
Yes, it is an excellent album; it proves that they could cut it live as
well as in the studio.

My pick -- and I'm surprised it's gone unmentioned so far -- "Peter Gabriel
Plays Live". Superb.

I always liked Journey's live album Captured. I thought that it
had a lot of punch and was recorded well.

Rod Stewart's absolutely live was good too.

I wanted to like Rush's Exit Stage left, but the sound is soooo
muddy that I can't stand it. The music's good though.

Wow, that's exactly what I was going to write! This is a great live album
and I, too, don't consider myself a major league Seger fan.

My other favorites: (previously listed by others) J.Geils Band "Full House
Live"

(not listed by anyone yet, but perhaps the best all time Live album ever
... see if you can find a copy and you'll agree!) :

Climax Blues Band: "FM Live" about 1973, broadcast live on WNEW-FM, New
York, at the same time as the lp was being recorded.

This is not necessarily my choice for best live album although I do enjoy
it. The only problem is that I would hesitate to say that it fits the
tastes of the people contributing to this thread based on the artists
that have thusfar been mentioned.

Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense

The video of this concert is cool too. Byrne starts the performance by
singing "Psycho Killer" accompanied by a boom box playing the beat tracks
and his guitar. Then, for each song, another band member is added.
