That would be Impedence. That song is relatively old on LA. Personally
I still prefer the SOFT CELL version and especially like the 1988 (or
was it 87) DJ remix.

I don't know who recorded the dance mix, but the song was done by Soft Cel
on the album "Non-stop Erotic Cabaret". Now, for the real question, did
Soft Cel go on to do anything else, and where are they now?

Soft Cell: Yes, they went on to do another album or two-- there is
_Non Stop Erotic Cabaret_, _The Art of Falling Apart_, and
_This Last Night... ...in Sodom_. The first and last are available on
CD.
The "Tainted Love" single is also available on CD single-- great
version; also has the "Where Did Our Love Go" extension...
Recently, another band did a heavy dance remix of "Tainted Love" -- I
can't remember what the hell the name of it is, but it is available on
promotional CD single (I have it -- four mixes)...
"Tainted Love" has to be one of the most covered songs around-- one of
my favorites is a cover done by The Coil; probably one of the most
depressing songs around (if I could only find the CD)...

They made another album called "Art of Falling Apart" and had a few hits from
it in Europe.
Marc Almond their lead singer made a number of records. I think the last one
was in '87 or '88 with Nico.

Marc Almond had an album out in '88. It included "Tears Run Rings"
and "Bittersweet", which I thought were pretty good songs. I can't
remember the name of the album. He has just come out with a
new album. This might be an import in America, though.

There is also an album that contains all the singles of Soft Cell,
called something like "Greatest Hits". Personally I like the 12
inch remixes better. At one time Soft Cell released a box containing 6 12
inches of some of their hits. If you ever come across this one in
record shop, be sure to buy it immediately. Not only is this a rare
collectors item, but the remixes are extremely good. I managed to
get hold of a couple of them, viz.
_Tainted Love_/_Tainted Dub_ (incorporating _Where did our love go_)
_What_/_So_
_Memorabilia_/_Persuasion_ (B-side is something like Throbbing Gristle
meets Soft Cell during a attack of supermarket paranoia)
_Bedsitter_/_Facility Girls_ (A-side to be played on Sunday Mornings,
B-side to be played on Saturday Nights)
_Say Hello Wave Goodbye_/_Fun City_
_Torch_/_Insecure Me_ (Incredibly good, where the 7 inch versions
stop, the 12 inch versions start tongue-in-cheek raps by Marc Almond and
Cindy Ecstacy)
Then there's of course the limited edition free single that comes
with _The Art of Falling Apart_: a remix of three Jimi Hendrix
songs.
I don't know what Dave Ball (the keyboard player) is doing these
days, but Marc Almond is still making records. His latest release
is an album containing songs of Jacques Brel.

"Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret" is the European (import) name of the album.
Domestically, on this side of the Atlantic, it's sold under the name
"Non-Stop Exotic Cabaret". Two other popular songs off this album were "Sex
Dwarf" and "It's A Mugs Game".
They have a compilation CD, Soft Cell, The Singles, which includes "Tainted
Love", "Memorabilia", "What", and at least one other single that I can't
remember offhand.
I don't know what happened to the other half of the duo, but Marc Almond
released a solo album, "The Stars We Are," which included "Bittersweet" and
"Tears Run Rings". He recently released another single called "A Lover
Spurned".

Thanks,

It has come to my attention that the "Soft Cell, The Singles" disc I
mentioned in an earlier posting is a European import. If you're at one of
these mainstream bigname music stores, you're probably out of luck.
When in doubt, look for imports.
