Does anyone have recommendations of where to shop for CDs in Tokyo? I'm
primarily interested in reissues of American and European material from the
50s and 60s. (I'd also be interested in Japanese pop of the same era, if
I knew what to get).

Any pointers welcomed.

Would appreciate any suggestions of where to shop for CDs in Tokyo. I'm
mostly interested in reissue CD's of rock/pop from the 50s and 60s.

I lived in Tokyo for a couple of years. The biggest CD shop in all of
Tokyo is Tower Records in Shibuya (last stop on the Ginza line in the
subway system). From there you can probably find and talk to some
people about different areas to find some rare and vintage stuff.
Shibuya's Tower Records is about nine stories tall....plenty to find
there....

Yeah, you're right.
I've been to Shibuya Tower Records often, cause they've got a lot of
imported magazines and Books on 6 or 7th Floor as thier CDs.
I definitely love it.
And maybe chepest shop if you buy them.

But if you could go down to Shinjuku or Ikebukuro, I also recommend
Virgin Megastore or HMV which is mega imported CD shop as well.

There are many CD shop in the 3 area above.
It depends on your town.

But maybe there is some shop around your town, let's chech it first.

Cheers,

I don't remember the name of the place, but behind Tokyo Hands on the
way to Shibuya Tower is a small shop that sells a good collection of
imports and bootlegs of US/euro rick, as well as a pretty decent jpop
collection. Sorry that I can't remember the name, but it's the only CD
shop on the small hill near the Tower corner, and it has an excellent
selection. I picked up an excellent copy of the unplugged REM show
there, as well as a small collection of hard to find UK imports.

I also second the HMV recommendation. If imports are your bag, they
have the best selection in Tokyo.
