I'm starting to get into big band music of the '50s and '60s, like what you
see in the great movies of those eras.
Are there any modern recordings of big band music with female vocals?
Who are the famous female singers these days? Any pointers or recommendations
would be appreciated.

Diane Shurr. Run, don't walk to your nearest record store and pick up her
CD she does with the Count Basie Orchestra. You will not be disapointed.

Unless you're looking for the really authentic stuff, you might give
a listen to the Linda Ronstadt/Nelson Riddle Orchestra collaboration.
Though not purist big band era, it is nonetheless a fine set of
works!
