Is the Nirvana album any good?

if the rest of the album (I'm not sure what it's called either) is good
or if it's only this one track. I'm not sure if it would be classified
metal either, but it sure sounds metal-ish :-)

punk meets R.E.M. I like but I don't think there are a lot of metal
fans who like it.
There are quite a few raunchy guitars on this album and some very strange
lyrics as well. Definitely listen to it before you buy it.

know if any of the other songs on the album have gotten any airplay.

I got the album about two wks ago...I think its a good album but its different
from other groups so some people might not. They released another song (just
heard it today "In Bloom" Another good song from the album. If you like those
two you should like the rest of the album. By the way...if you have the album
make sure you find the "hidden song" at the end...

SECOND album. The first LP, whose name escapes me, was released way back
(like in '88). They've also appeared on numerous compilations.
One of the funnier things about this band is that they're from Olympia, WA
but are constantly being referred to nowadays as "the hottest thing to
come out of Seattle in a long time...".
What do I think about the album? All my friends like it, but I took mine
back to Tower and walked away with a Cannibal Corpse album I listen to
a lot more. I flat out think this LP is overrated, but that's just my opinion
obviously, since it was like the #2 LP in the country for over a month!
Additionally, I heard they were very good New Year's Eve at the Cow Palace.
They appeared on the middle of the bill with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and
Pearl Jam. Apparently, they destroyed the stage in a fashion that would
make the Who proud.

The album is *Bleach*. The label is SubPop. It's available in all
formats. The CD has extra tracks.
SubPop does do mail-order. I don't have the address, however. If there
are any decent record shops in your vicinity, they might be able to
special-order it for you. *Bleach* is a domestic (US) album, and if
anyone tries to charge you significantly more than $15 or so, you are
being ripped off. It's in print, and I've seen lots of copies floating
around.
In addition to *Bleach*, there are two CD-5's of "Sliver" and "Blew"
both with non-LP tracks. These are imports, and are getting fairly
hard to find.
Also, there are two 7" singles (both on SubPop) "Blew"/"Big Cheese",
and "Sliver"/"Dive". They were both commanding collectorscum prices
BEFORE *Nevermind* came out, and you will almost certainly not see
this in a million years.

This is from memory, so I might be missing some things:
There is a 7" split single (one side Nirvana, one side the Fluid)
on SubPop. Good luck finding this.
There is a song "Spank Thru" on the *SubPop 200* compilation. This
appears to have been recently reissued, and shouldn't be too hard
to find.
There is a song "Mexican Seafood" on the *Teriyaki Asthma Vol 1*
compilation 7". The first five TA singles have just been reissued
on CD by C/Z. I never saw the single, but the CD is pretty easy
to find.
"Beeswax" appears on the *Kill Rock Stars* compilation album. This
is vinyl only, and has been recently reissued by K records. It's in
print, but it may be hard to find in stores. K does do mail order.

Finally, they do "Do You Love Me" on *Reason to Believe*, a collection
of Kiss covers by (mostly) Seattle-area and Australian bands. This
is on C/Z and should be reasonable available.

It is indeed on Sub Pop.
And, I am guessing, it has become the first Sub Pop album ever to reach the
Billboard Top 200 album chart. I forgot to look for it this week, but last
week it debuted at #185. (This week, of course, Nevermind vaulted to #1.)

Another tidbit -- In the latest "Guitar World", Kurt Cobain indicates
that the album Bleach cost Nirvana $600 (thats six HUNDRED) dollars
to make! Not a bad return...
