I'm looking for the lyrics to "Silent Night" in the original German.
I've always felt that the German lyrics were particularly beautiful,
and would like to sing it that way this year. If anyone has them,
please let me know. Thanks!

Well, here are the first few lines, if it helps:

Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,
Alles schla:ft,
Einsam wacht,

Don't remember the rest, I'll see if I can find it...

Yes, it's been out overseas for a few years but finally got a US release
sometime within the last couple of weeks. I've seen the CD5 in several
local shops. (I think she's singing it in Gaelic.)

it's a B side on a few of her singles.

It's currently available on a CD single "Oiche Chiun (Silent Night)" along
with
two other non-album tracks. Any CD store with a reasonable CD singles
selection
should carry it (Tower - do they have Tower Records in Texas yet? Sound
Warehouse. Peaches - are there still any of those left in Texas? etc.)

Sorry it took me so long to read this list again,
but there we go ...

(remember that "ae" is a-Umlaut, etc.)

Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht,
alles schlaeft, einsam wacht
nur das traute, hochheilige Paar,
holder Knabe mit lockigem Haar,
schlaf' in himmlischer Ruh',
schlaf' in himmlischer Ruh'.

Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht,
Hirten schon kundgemacht
durch der Engel Halleluja
toent es laut von fern und nah:
Christus der Retter ist da,
Christus der Retter ist da.

Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht,
Gottes Sohn, o wie lacht
Lieb' aus Deinem goettlichen Mund,
da uns schlaegt die rettende Stund',
Christus, in Deiner Geburt,
Christus, in Deiner Geburt.

I hope this helps, and I hope I did it properly.
The punctuation is different in different versions,
but that doesn't really matter.

Best wishes, and have a merry christmas !

Martin Schoenhacker, Austria
(Yes, that's where the song comes from !)

Nearly...
The last two lines should be:
"Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh"

The second and third (or vice versa) verse (if I remember correctly...)

Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,
Gottes Sohn, oh wie lacht
Lieb aus deinem g"ottlichen Mund,
da uns schl"agt die rettende Stund,
Christ, in deiner Geburt
Christ, in deiner Geburt.

Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,
Hirten erst kundgebracht
durch der Engel Hallelujah,
t"ont es laut von fern und nah:
Christ der Retter ist da,
Christ der Retter ist da.

"a, "o, "u: Umlauts (TeX notation)

Bye
