Victoria Times Colonist.
Victoria, British Columbia
By Joseph Blake

"Bill Bourne produced this rough-hewn eclectic collection of originals by the Alberta duo of
Steve Coffey and Jay Bigam, collectively The Kitchen Boys. It's prairie music - stark tales of
'90's farm life. Coffey's canon is of gritty, vividly poetic images, and The Kitchen Boys offer
them in a raw, intense form that owes as much to punk rock as it does to Woodie Gutherie -
something of a spiritual brother to Nirvana's Unplugged Session. Dark, compelling work and bare
bones majestic magic like Mrs. Shire's simple melody keeps me coming back for more. Highly
recommended."
