Webb Wilder and the Nashvegans descended upon Indianapolis for a Thursday
night show at the Patio. Needless to say, they rocked the place. A
voracious crowd was present and ready for Webb to play selections from all
four albums: It Came From Nashville, Hybrid Vigor, Doo Dad, and Town &
Country.

Taking the stage, Webb followed through a blistering set starting with the
instrumental "Goldfinger" (it is too bad that Tina Turner sings the new 007
James Bond song. Webb and the boys could do a far superior job!). "Big
Time" followed with it rockin' guitar sound. "Move On Down The Line" was
played and it sounded great as George "The Tone Chaperone" Bradfute, along
with WW, played a slightly slower version than we are accustomed to. It
sounded superb.

"One Taste Of The Bait" is a classic track that just sounds better every
time I hear it live. "Human Cannonball" totally sealed the deal. The crowd
was definitely into this show.

"Nashville Bum" was introduced by Webb with some brief chatter about Waylon
Jenning's Pizza Hut commercial- quite funny. Another favorite was next
"Poolside"- I was luxuriating then! "Wild Honey" was followed by the
awesome instrumental of "Sputnik". George and WW had fun playing this one
as they traded off cool guitar sounds at the end.

"Original Mixed Up Kid" was next. Between songs, the band broke into a
short rendition of "Chain Gang". "Hittin Where It Hurts" and "Sittin'
Pretty" (you got your mamma's looks and your daddy's money, you're sittin'
pretty!) rolled off into the air. The band sounded as tight as ever.

"Sugar Coated Love" (an unreleased Lazy Lester cover from the T&C sessions)
and "Lover Not a Fighter" (another Lazy Lester tune) followed. At the end
of "Lover...", WW sang "Who Do You Love"- it was great.

Kelly Looney's heavy bass into told me "Slow Death" was next. This coupled
with "Stay Out Of Automobiles", which was next, are the best tunes on the
new T&C album. WW graciously acknowledged my presence and the work I have
done on the Internet. He called himself a "techno-peasant". The band played
a little Allman Brothers "Down To The Whipping Post" for a little fun-
short and sweet. "Talk Talk" and "Louisiana Hannah" followed.

The end was in sight when "Tough It Out" was played and then the band left
the stage. The crowd rejoiced as the band came back to play an encore and
we where treated to "Meet Your New Landlord"- another WW classic track. "My
Mind's Eye" closed the show.

Brian Owings, Jr. was on drums as Les James Lester was away playing with
Los Straightjackets. Bobby was great. He was as solid as any drummer could
be. Having played with Will and The Bushmen and Delbert McClinton certainly
showed.

Webb hopes to get the band in the studio soon with RS "Bobby" Field
producing the next record. George Bradfute was sharp as usual. the guitar
solos in "Slow Death" and "Stay Out..." where just outstanding but all his
solos sounded great. George was dress in a sharp suit with his hat. Kelly
played great also. He was reading about real estate so look out, he may try
to sell you a house!

The Patio was a nice place especially since they improved their sound
system since the last visit there. All in all, it was worth the 5 hours of
driving (2.5 each way!). Here's to Webb, George, Kelly, and Brian- great
show!
