This has been driving my friends and me crazy for the past few weeks!
Does anyone have ANY information on what song that old Muppets "Mahna,
Mahna" tune (oh, come on. you know: "Mahna, mahna. Doo Doo Ba-Doo-Ba.
Mahna, mahna. Doo Doo Ba-Doo-Ba Ba-Doo-Ba Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo.") comes
from. One of my friends claims that she sang the song in choir years
before the Muppets ever existed. We say she's nuts. So which is it:
Did the Muppets create it or is it a real song that they borrowed???

Please help!

In article <4ltsl7$j...@zombie.ncsc.mil>, gpc...@zombie.ncsc.mil says...
I know exactly which song you are talking about (I always thought that it
went: "Manawminah, deet dee dee dee-dee"). The last time I heard that
song was by the muppets on Sesame Street back around 1971 or 1972. However,
I too heard it on the radio before seeing it on TV. It was so long ago,
though that the radio station has been through a few format changes since and
they don't know what I'm talking about when I ask.

If anyone finds out for me, I'll be sure to post.
Ian

Maybe we're talking about two different songs here but the one I know
goes Mahna Mahna Ba-De Ba-De-Be?!

Hmm, as far as I know the song isn't from the Muppets but from Sesame
Street. And since Sesame Street started to run back in '69 and the
Muppets didn't go on air before '76 it might well be that she sang it
before the Muppets existed.

I think ONE version of the song ...the one originally from Sesame
Street... had ''beep beep'' or ''deet deet'' or something....
But the one from the Muppet Show goes 'doo-doo-doo-doo'.
(I've got it on my-- --er-- my daughter's Muppet Hits cd!) :)
