I just bought a Bangles CD and love them. Can anybody tell me if they
are still together? If not, what happened to them?

Thanks.

The Bangles split up about 2 years ago, and now Sussanna Hoffs (one of the main
singers) is now pursuing a solo carear. She released an album in Britain but I
dont think it did very well.

They broke up a couple of years ago, from what I understand. Susanna Hoffs
has had a solo album ("When You're A Boy") and a single and video ("My
Side Of The Bed") and apparently, from what friends tell me, her fan club
is getting started up again. Send me email if you want the address or
something. No word from the other Bangles in the last several months.

No, they are not together. Susanna Hoffs went and did some solo work for a
while, but never really hit. Haven't heard much from the rest...

The Bangles split up in 1989 after completing their World tour. I say
completing, but this is not quite correct. The British dates were
'postponed' due to extra dates being added in America where "Eternal
Flame" had just become a big hit. Had they come over here, it would have
tied in nicely with "EF" being No.1 too. Ho hum. Anyway, these postponed
dates were never rescheduled and the band split up! Ha! One Bangles fan who
had front row tickets for Manchester was NOT happy.

Since then Susanna Hoffs released a simply dreadful album "When You're A Boy"
which made her sound like Kylie Minogue, Vicki Peterson sang backing vocals
on Hoodoo Gurus "Kinky" album and her sis Debbi joined forces with that lass
from River City People to make an album. The group name escapes me at the
mo, but they supported someone over here quite recently.

What happened to Michael Steele though???? A world needs to know!!! And the
book which Vicki Peterson and Susanna Hoffs were wrting???

BTW, if anybody has the album "Rodney On The ROQ" with the Bangles track
"Bitchin' Summer" on it and wishes to trade/sell/give it to me, please
e-mail me personally...it's just about the only thing I need!!!

Thanks and love, peace and vibes

I thought Susanna Hoffs' album was excellent. Not the Bangles to be sure, but
Susanna Hoffs is not the Bangles. (I feared something terrible, like Belinda
Carlisle's or Phil Collins' listless solo work). In fact, the National Public
Radio station in Detroit played "When You're A Boy" a lot.

I recently found a demo tape cut by none other than Michael Steele in a used
record store in Michigan. I only heard it once or twice, and I don't have it
here. But it had potential.

I haven't heard anything about the other two members.

Well, both Belinda and Phil have done some bland stuff, but songs like "Summer
Rain", "Circle In The Sand", "Take Me Home", "In The Air Tonight", etc. are
not to be sneezed at. <achoo!> Gesundheit.

I recall that Michael Steele, before she joined the Bangles for their second
album, was in The Runaways with Joan Jett...

Okay, you got me. :-) Circle in the Sand, and In the Air Tonight, are definitely
good songs that I wouldn't want the world to be without. <NOT sarcasm!>
I would've rephrased that except I don't know how to use vi.

Yeah, Michael Steele was apparently "all over the place". I've also heard
she was in Slow Children and a half dozen other bands. But I couldn't ever find
any liner notes etc. to back it up! I suspect she toured/played live with
them or something.

Yes, she was, but left well before the band became (ahem) "big". She wasnt
on any of their albums or anything, but if you look at the credits for "Born
To Be Bad" on the Runaways "Queens Of Noise" album, you'll see the one of the
writers is none other than "M.Steel"(minus the "e")...

Just thought you ight like to know, and incidently "All Fired Up" is a great
song. What is Pat Benatar doing these days?
