I hope I'm posting this in the right place, but I know someone who is
an Airborne Ranger and I'd like to get the words to the song, "I wanna
be an Airborne Ranger". It was briefly in "The Breakfast Club" but I
couldn't make out the words except for the first line.

I'd appreciate any help. Post or e-mail me at ed...@unixg.ubc.ca.

Thanks,
Vicki

It is also mixed into the middle of "Seconds" from U2's WAR album, though
I can't make out many words there either, except the next line "I wanna live
a life of danger".

Tackhead released a song that was a pretty much a complete sample
of this song some time ago. I don't remember the details, but its on
the album with the statue of liberty on the cover. Its no more than 2-3
years old.

It's been awhile, and cadence's can have MANY variations, but:
(PS - the DI (or whoever's leading the march/run) sings the line
first, and then the rest of the company (or whatever) "answers"

C-130 Walkin' down the strip
repeat
Big, bad momma gonna take a little trip
repeat
I want to be an Airborne Ranger
repeat
I want to live a life of danger
repeat
I want to go to Viet-Nam
repeat
I want to kill me some Charley-Cong
repeat

Your left, Your le-eft
repeat
Your military left
repeat
...

cadence continues with other bits (and can, and probably will, be
strung together with other cadences - those 30 mile runs with
full pack can take quiet a long time :>)

Huh? I sent email that didn't go through that asked, "Is this the
song by Mark Farner?":

I wanna be an Airborne ranger
fightin' with the foe of the air
I've tried all the things in life
and about them, I just don't care...

Please enlighten...whose song is it????

According to the "War" liner notes:

"Excerpt from 'Soldier Girls' courtesy of contemporary films."

Maybe this will point people in the right direction for the source of
this clip...

We sang this song in BASIC training in the USArmy.
"I wanna be an airborne ranger, I wanna go to Viet Nam,
I wanna live a life of danger, I wanna kill the Viet Cong!"
