Good work, might as well get it in the search engines a bit.

I make it /look/ easy:

She Sleeps Tight

Sleeps so tight
she has a marksman's eye.
Maker's mark
tattoo firewater spine.
Leather shoes
but nowhere to go.

Dice and coins
scattered in the snow.
Dice and coins
scattered in the snow.

Won't be long,
until I see her face.
She's waiting
in an undisclosed place.
I've been conspired
banned from my muse.

This won't stick
poor boy's all confused.
This won't stick
poor boy's all confused.

In Salem town
she keeps her chin so high.
Darkened breeze
she smiles as I roll by.
Step inside
she looks for tables left.

Wink at time
nothing lasts except yourself.
Wink at time
nothing lasts except yourself.

Like a Steamboat
she plans to roll on down.
To the Gulf
out of this dirty town.
Copper mesh
kept stuffed in a jar.

Sharp cold hit
turning wine to water.
Sharp cold hit
turning wine to water.

We know him
eye deed by his ship.
In a trap
a kind of goosechase trip.
Whiskey fumes
and stale gunsmoke.

Sunk and drowned
with all her knives and jokes.
Sunk and drowned
with all her knives and jokes.

Sleeps so tight
she has a marksman's eye.
Maker's mark
tattoo firewater spine.
Leather shoes
but nowhere to go.

How difficult can it be to spit out random words and then try to pass them
off as a poem?

Thanks for the critique, Orson, but, to answer your question, the
difficulty for you may be more or less than that of someone else. In
"She Sleeps Tight", though, there are no random words, each word is
specifically placed to build and progress the "story":

Just a question that's a little personal so if you don't want to answer
it I'll understand.

Does it bother you to look at performances where you were stinking drunk
now that you aren't drinking?

Well, I know I can do it better sober... and know I can do everything
better sober. That definitely helps me remember to not take that first
drink, night after night.

But, the music's good, my performance was okay on that one, so it
doesn't really /bother/ me, but I know the performance could have been
better. It does bother me a bit that I most likely a blacked-out
zombie by that point of the night, since I did drink all day and all
night every day around the time that video was shot,

Thanks for the critique, Orson, although you don't care for it, "She

Benhallned (4 days ago) Very nice all round,Michael, real ^60/70s type

Acridona (5 days ago) A really "feel good" song and the mixture
between the both kinds of art in the painted pictures is a perfect
way to transmit the feeling of that song.
Thanks to Michael too, for giving me that hint!!!

barbettemroe (6 days ago) Nice, thanks to Falke58 for sharing this

CurtisMateer (6 days ago) Twisted sixties sounding bubblegum pop - it
could just about be called alternative. Interesting words complimented
by the music well. George's art is nice - European style old
abstraction.

Falke58 (1 week ago) Great song too, sounds little early seventys,
little psychadelia, little
like that you mix L.Reed and early
Neil Young. Really good.

He's on to something. When I was doing the Dockery word count of Adam's poem &
your piece, I thought your piece read like something The Hybrid from Battlestar
Gallactica would spit out. I found this on IMDb:

"All these thing
at once and many more.
Not because it wishes harm,
but because it like violent vibrations
to change constantly.
Then shall the maidens
rejoice at the dance.
Structural integrity
of node seven restored.
Repressurizing.
The children of the one
reborn shall find
their own country.
The intruders
swarmed like flame.
Like the whirlwind.
Hopes soaring to slaughter
all their best
against our hulls."

The Hybrid rambles on...

Matt and George, I read/skimmed some comments you two had posted
somewhere here on the newsgroups about "She Sleeps Tight", but either
they're deleted or buried in threads with dozens of posts. I wanted t
get back t them now, but they're not turning up fast enough, and I
have to leave soon for a double-night of performing... so I'm moving
it all here under the title, where y'all may want to continue, or
repost what what ging on over there in whichever thread that was in.

Here's the link, and words to the poem, which will put your comments

I don't remember much of that. I did tell Matt what I'd told you --
that Mallard's guitar sounded like "And Your Bird Can Sing."

I also told him I thought some of the lyrics came from your
"Portsmouth Thongs" project, to Houstmanize a Rik Roots poem
("Portsmouth Thoughts"), because 'marksman' and 'dice and coins' both
appear in Roots's poem.

Yes, I discuss with HC that for many years the "rule" was 3 minutes
and 5 seconds for a single... actually that went back to the old 78s,
which supposedly could only handle about that much groove. Writing
with HC, the last 35-40 songs have come amazingly close to that size,
not really conciously, but when we work one up, and listen to the
paybacks, they're all coming in at abot 3 minutes. Mallard has more
"jamband" roots, from the Dead/Phish arena, and the Shadowville All-
Stars format, where a song can go through various solos and
diversions, and can easily clock up 30 minutes if we don't wind them
down. Fun stuff, but hardly what the mainstream listener can endure...

> otherwise, great stuff!  i agree with the youtube

"Keep banging the door", as Johnny Rotten once sang... got a sit-in
gig tonight with some friends out in the country, and tomorrow is a
pretty big profile set for the Springer Opera House block party, which
is expected to have a huge turnout,

http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/134/story/812292.html

"...The block of 10th Street between First and Second avenues will be
blocked off to vehicular traffic. In the street, the Springer Stilt
Walking team will be wandering around. Food vendors will sell food.
Springer Theater Academy students will be playing games with children.

A small stage will be set up in the street, where you can get a
preview of the No Shame Theater, among other performances.

Throughout the day, Michele Rogers, who will be choreographing
“Footloose,” will be teaching a simple dance combination to anyone who
wants to try it.

“Dancers will be walking around the crowd,” Johanna said. “It (the
block party) will have an ’80s theme. So definitely dress up. We
encourage you to dress up.

“At the end of the block party, we’re going to have a dance party.
Whoever has learned the dance can be part of the big end-of-the-day
dance with that combination.”

There will also be tours of the Springer. For those of you who have
never been through the old theater, this will be the perfect time for
you to do it.

Producing artistic director Paul Pierce will tell ghost stories. And
he’ll even autograph the book he wrote about the Springer ghosts..."

So we're looking forward to getting a lot of t-shirts and CDs in
circulation there...

Ah... I actually shelved the "Portsmouth Thongs" piece, since I saw
that as a setup for more problems here on the newsgroups--- what was
earlier applauded when done by one poster can suddenly be cursed if
done by another--- an example set most recently by your posting of the
"Workers Dreaming" poem.

I kept a couple of images from "Portsmouth Thongs", as well as a few
from "Workers Dreaming", and built the new poem from all-new elements,
which is not only easier, but more satisfying to me as a writer.
Originality is clearly the best route for the poet, in my opinion.

Your admission is noted, Dink, but it was already pretty obvious.

The word "pleasing" doesn't really need defining, you know.

Especially since nothing you ever do or have done could be defined as
'pleasing'
