(If you read to the bottom, I have some mute racks for sale, but this is
a FAQ about all the mute racks I know about.)

The mute rack at indianamusic.com has not been available for quite some
time.
Had it been available when I was looking, I would have ordered it.
(Dillon's still has them on their site at $65.00)

Chase Sanborn, Canadian trumpeter and clinician has an accessory shelf
on his web site call MASU. He learned about it at ITG Banff this year.
Michael Anderson, TPIN list moderator likes it.
http://www.chasesanborn.com/masu.html
$65.
Very pretty and stable and fits a wide variety of shaft sizes.
made of plexiglass with a rail on 3 slides to prevent stuff slipping off.

________________________________________________________________________________
There is a shelf made by Manhasset for substantially less than the MASU.
I have not used it.
http://www.dybrk.com/2800.html
Item# 2800
MSRP: $19.50
Our Price: $11.40
Description:
This Accessory Box allows musicians to have the music stand storage they
have needed. The box dimensions are 10 inches long by 6 inches wide and
a depth of 2-1/2 inches - so you can keep a wide range of supplies and
accessories at a "no-reach required" convenient location, just below the
music stand desk. Plus, it has a built-in holder for your water bottle
or cup. The unit's hanger is designed to fit on any Manhasset (or
comparable) music stand and provide a securely fitting container. The
unit can be installed and removed in an instant!

K&M makes an accessory shelf, also, which is available at WW and BW
http://www.wwbw.com/Konig-and-Meyer-Accessory-Shelf-i79939.music
Our Price: $38.95
List Price: $55.95
A practical music and instrument tray made of wood with felt
inner-lining. Attaches to K&M stands with tubing diameter up to 23 mm.

I have not measured the Manhasset stands to know if this would work on them.

I really like the mute rack I purchased from
http://home.comcast.net/~bob_morris/4MuteHolder.htm
That link no longer works.
but a quick check of the site shows that Bob Morris has retired.
http://home.comcast.net/~bob_morris
This is also mentioned on Jim Donaldson's site.

WW & BW also carries the Manhasset, JoRal, Pfund and K&M mute holders
http://www.wwbw.com/Search.list?N=61&Ntt=mute+holder

Manhasset $6.99 (holds one mute or beverage)
These mute holders are made of plastic and attach to most music stands.
The trumpet mute holder will also hold an 8 oz. cup, the trombone mute
holder will also hold a 16 oz. cup.
Clips on the lip of all folding and concert music stands. Places mutes
or cups in convenient, readily accessible place. Allows for quick mute
changes during performances.

I don't like them, because page turning can be difficult and sometimes
the desk of Manhasset stands, improperly adjusted, will tilt far too easily.
________________________________________________________________________________
the JoRal is made of plastic and looks like it folds pretty compact.
The Jo-Ral mute holder is great for any player that uses mutes on a
daily basis. It clamps to and standard shaft music stand (except Wenger)
for an easy reach when you need a mute. Holds 3 trumpet mutes.
$19.99

________________________________________________________________________________
Bill Pfund $11.99
One of the most versatile mute holders on the market! It has 2 small
loops that will hold trumpet straight or cup and standard size trumpet
mutes. Harmon mutes do not work well in this unit as they have a larger
diameter. To accommodate a trumpet Harmon mute, look at the Pfund French
Horn mute holder.

The Bill Pfund mute holder folds compactly, clamps to right, front of
music stand desk or to the upright center post up to 1" thick. Holds two
mutes.

________________________________________________________________________________
Konig and Meyer $19.95
The Konig & Meyer Mute Holder attaches to a music stand with a shaft
diameter of 23mm or .91 inches. This holder features prong holders for 3
mutes. Perfect for use with folding music stands.
(some people are concerned about ripping off corks in mute holders where
the mute fits in a hole)

________________________________________________________________________________
Standard Mute Caddy
Item# 106478 Our Price: $19.95
Clips on to the music support ledge of a music stand. Holds 3 trumpet
mutes: Straight, Cup, Harmon style, plus a plunger. Increases the shelf
space of wire stands. You'll have quick and easy access to your mutes!
(another ledge mounted rack. One reviewer said the top is slick and
facilitates the music sliding off the stand and says it does not fit
Wenger stands. In addition the edge of the hole is missing, so mutes
would slide sideways in and out if in a hurry.)

http://www.muterak.com/
Very simple design $39.95
thumb screw clamps to vertical shaft of music stand
holds up to 5 mutes and beverage
will fit stands with shafts 1/2” to 3/4”.
made of sturdy, yet lightweight ABS plastic with a metal clamp.
When folded for transport it measures 12-3/4” long x 3-5/8” wide x 1-1/
4” high. When it is fully open it measures 22-3/4” long x 6-1/2” wide x
1-1/ 4” high.

And, finally, I have a few of my own design.
http://www.thatskool.net/Mute_Holder.html
The ones that are available right now are $20.00 each including shipping
in the U.S.

I have another page with a prototype model, much like the
Indianamusic.com mute rack.
http://www.thatskool.net/Mute_Rack_-MA_model.html
If the photos don't show, let me know, or use a different browser.
Works fine with Opera and Safari Mac, but not FireFox 3 mac.

I am working with an engineer to help me refine the design of racks with
wire rings and also have another prototype idea. Except for the
bulkiness, I am partial to the first two designs.
All of my ideas involve a clamp, like the Pfund and Indianamusic.com racks.

All designed to attach to a Manhassette type music stands, which

would get my interest.

I think you will find several that do the job.

I know for a fact that the individual Manhassett mute holders clip on
the ledge of the H&B band front. And they work quite well for that.
http://www.manhasset-specialty.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=page&pageID=4

The "Standard" will, too, I think. But it would be wise to check with a
vendor. the following link is WW and BW.
http://www.wwbw.com/Standard-Mute_Caddy-i106478.music?cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-Standard-_-Brass%20Accessories_Cornet%20Accessories_Mute%20Accessories_Mute%20Holder-_-Mute%20Caddy&mr:trackingCode=9FC49E32-894C-DD11-98CA-001422107090&mr:referralID=NA

My mute holders will clamp to the upright support of a Humes and Berg
dance band front, using the supplied vinyl hose over the clamp jaws.
http://www.thatskool.net/Mute_Holder.html

And my "Prototype" MA model will either clip to the upright support of
the H&B dance Band front or, clamp to the lip and let you rotate the
mute holders to be in the same plane. Not quite ready for sale, working
out a neat way to bend the wires. (pictures do not display in all browsers)
http://www.thatskool.net/Mute_Rack_-MA_model.html

Someone told me that www.indianamusic.com mute rack back orders are
being filled.

Also, Humes and Berg makes a mute holder just for their dance band fronts.

At least it is still listed on their web site.
I don't know if it is still available.
http://www.humes-berg.com/viewItems.asp?line=25

I have emailed them regarding this.

I use the manhasset individual clip-on rings and find them to be
pretty effective in most circumstances.

The best I've used is ... another manhasset.
