I heard he killed himself and his estranged wife.

Glenn Stuart, former great lead player with Ralph Marterie, Stan Kenton and
Don Ellis has passed away; he was 70. Glenn was also a great teacher, and I
had the pleasure and honor of studying with him for about 5 years. He turned
me from a recreational player with no chops to a lead player in dance band
startig at age 44. Glenn's death and the circumstances surrounding it are
tragic. He was estraged from his wife Laverne since approx. Dec. 2001 and
alluded to this in a seasonal card. Apparently the stess, depression and
inability to reconcile were too much. He shot his wife and himself to death
last Sat. May 25 in Laguna Beach Ca.. Please take a minute to offer some
thoughts and prayers for Glenn, his wife Laverne and the surving family
members. This is truely a sad post and should give us perspective on how
fragile our psyches can be and how we must appreciate and make the most of
each day. It should also help make us aware of how many of our fellow human
beings may be in great pain and heeding a few warning signs might allow us an
opportunity to offer a meaningful and even life saving intervention.
