I'm looking for Raphael Mendez vinyl or cd. He once was the
world's greatest trumpet virtuoso. He recorded 78's, 45's and
later some 33 1/3's. Also recorded with his two sons. Has any
company re-pressed or made cd's of his works? TIA, Larry

The ITG (International Trumpet Guild) gave Volume I away
with the Fall ITG Journal. This is part of a series being
re-released on CD by
Summit REcords
P.O. Box 26850
Tempe Arizona 85285

1-800-543-5156

Volume I had some stuff that I had never heard before and
I thought I had most of the vinyl that was available.

The executive producers of the CDs are his sons. I'm looking
forward to future releases.

Barnes & Noble (Houston, Bellaire/Holcombe Blvd store) had one Volume 1 in
their music department last night.

no, it should be "was" since he is dead.

Mendez is deified by his virtuosity. Having heard Mendez recordings of
classical and popular, I say he could play ANYTHING. Trumpet players are
a dime a dozen, but sir, there will only ever be ONE Rafael Mendez!!
